I have to let it fester, they wont remove it while its infected. Thats why they gave me antibiotics so it can die down a bit first, im still taking the pills.

Congratulations, you're a hypochondriac. A sebaceous cyst is nothing fatal, and is very unlikely to cause anything but discomfort. The chances of a healthy person of getting MRSA are nearly zero today. If you had full-blown aids, maybe.

Ok, i wont worry about msra then, someone just posted about it so i got curious and started reading... I am not a hypochondriac! I am just scared of needles and surgery!

I just got a cyst drained myself...the shot numbs the skin but not when they cut you, it really is a small procedure and as long as they give you meds after wards it should help the pain..also depending on the packaging...i had a catheter.... a little tube with a balloon inserted....sometimes on other cysts they put in gauze, no of it hurts after they cut you.

i wont be going to the hospital tho! in that wikipedia it refers to hospital procedures. Mine is MAX 1 hr at DOCTORS OFC, if it takes long its probably cause i will be asking lots of questions. i am not even going to the hospital!

Actually, the open wound you'll have increases your risk greatly. Aside from that, the antibiotics you're taking, and the infection you have, can both weaken your immune system. Plus, the doctor's office actually is a medical setting. Lots of people with different diseases and infections come in, and leave nasty bugs behind. MRSA could be one of those bugs, and the slightest lapse on the part of your doctor's cleaner could make it possible for a bug like mrsa to live there for a while, until some unlucky bastard (you) picks it up.

This is about as severe as getting a tooth pulled, bruising a rib or dislocating a finger. Yes, there's a tiny risk of complications, but then again, there's also a tiny risk of getting hit by a bus on the way to the doctor's office.

Even if my cyst is almost two inches big? I'm not sure if its that big but when I feel it it feels big. Its not a tiny cyst. Its been there for years and I never had it removed.

On a serious scale from 0-10 a cyst removal would rank in at about 0.05 on such a scale. That is assuming a broken finger is at least a .5

i never measured it before, I just measured it and its actually 2.5 -2.75 inches! Its infected so I don't know if's the puss or abscess and swolleness of it making it appear bigger than it really is. It IS infected right now so it could be why it's looking so puffy. It feels puffy. It looks puffy too.

Those three I would fluctuate since they really depend a whole shit load and either pain or side effects swing greatly.

I have always been curious to know what a transfusion feels like, you listed it more painful then a broken finger.. Can you actually feel it while the blood is going in and out of your body?? What does it feel like? I actually had a blood transfusion when I was a baby but I don't remember it.

Wisdom teeth felt like nothing for me because I had conscious sedation and was put to sleep. I felt NOTHING. Not even the novocaine shots. And best of all I don't remember ANY of it. That's the best part. Being awake would have freaked me out. The only thing was that I was so scared to eat afterwards cause my mouth was bloody but I had to eat so I could take the Vicodin they gave me. That was the worst bad part. I felt nothing and don't remember anything. Conscious sedation is amazing, I really recommend it.

I was out for the wisdom teeth as well, I just ended up getting dry socket in one of them and hence my score.

As for a blood transfusion well first off it does require a good sized needle and the veins in my elbow area of my arm are beyond shot. So are most of those in my hands, wrist, etc. So typically they must go for a back of the arm one or other deep vein. Never super pleasant.

They typically will give people benedryl or something along those lines prior to a transfusion which can make you drowsy. You do sure in the hell feel it going in. The blood is kept refrigerated so it goes into your body cold. It has a unique feeling, it may burn slightly at first (few seconds to minutes) and then it just feels sore and weird. Assuming they are not pushing it on you. A single transfusion is rarely pushed and they allow a couple hours for it to go in. Now when they want multiple units in you, then that is another story and they speed up the drip/pump machine. That can border on a dull constant pain, plus they have to check up on you every 15-30 minutes for vital signs.

Getting a wisdom tooth pulled and getting dry socket... 1. The pain is excruciating. Without dry socket, 0.01. Two days of eating soft foods isn't that bad.

Breaking a finger gets a 0.5 from me. No pain, but 10 years later, the damn thing is still virtually unusable.

I read up a lot about dry socket before I had my wisdom teeth removed because I was so afraid of getting it. From a lot of online accounts, some people said dry socket hurt more than childbirth! Some said it was the most painful thing they ever endured. I was really careful not to suck on a straw or drink anything really hot for like 3 weeks after the surgery because I was so terrified.

Some are not ranked on pain but potential seriousness. So rib for instance had issue with lung.

Technically no finger broke - boxers fracture, and score relates to the deep needling they did which also resulted in the needle scraping bone and such before and during setting of the bone.

I stopped with the antibiotics cause they made me throw up.

My cyst got bigger and bigger and more tender. At first it was manageable tender but then it got really bad and sensitive, even cotton clothing touching it would make it extremely sensitive and tender to the touch. I felt like a burn-accident patient. But I was able to get relief when I was in certain positions so it wasn't too bad... but it kept getting worse and worse... whenever I accidentally bumped into something lightly, like a chair or if I accidentally hit it, it would hurt like crazy.

A few hours ago I accidentally hit the doorway with it and it hurt like crazy, it was the worst pain I felt in my life, I screamed out loud and my eyes teared up! I looked in the mirror and saw that it popped! It wasn't dark brown like the stuff on youtube, more like a really light reddish color. I don't know why it wasn't super cheesy, I think its cause I was afraid to squeeze it hard... I think I am just squeezing the puss out and haven't even gotten to the cheese yet. It doesn't really hurt a lot when I squeeze it. It feels kinda good actually, like there is less pressure in there.

Hopefully it will become less inflamed soon so they can take it out of me! I have to wait for it to die down. Hopefully the popping of it helps. I didn't mean to pop it, it just did it on its own. I had to stop squeezing it cause I had to go buy food because I was starving, but now that I am re-fueled I am going to try and squeeze more out of it. Hopefully its not all dried out now. Its really gross.

Let this be a lesson, if you have a sebaceous cyst, go to the doctor and get it removed. Dont wait for it to get infected cause it fucken hurts bad.

Psst! although popping it open did remove some pressure and would help with the pain. The fact that it was already infected combined with that it is now open to the air could very easily cause the infection to get much worse if it is not cleaned and dressed properly.

Last thing you want is for it to get more infected and potentially hop to your blood supply. When that happens you go downhill very damn fast and well could die if it gets serious.

I would guess the puss you currently squeezed out was just infected cells, mostly just run of the mill puss and white blood cell material with a little bit of regular blood mixed in.

Regardless if you do squeeze everything out, you will end up with a pocket beneath your skin that is a mixture of moist and warm which is the ideal breeding ground for a whole wide range of potential infections.

Lastly starting and prematurely stopping your antibiotics really only helps the infection. The antibiotics were just starting to do their job and by stopping them you give the infection the ability to become immune to that antibiotic or group of antibiotics. Which would really suck if you were prescribed one of the heavy hitting antibiotics.

The dr told me i didnt need the antibiotics really and that it wouldnt really help, she only gave them to me because i insisted. I will call them tomorrow morning right when I wake up...They are open 7 days a week

The medicine i have is Doxycycline, is that a strong antibiotic? The reason why I got nauseous is because I have to admit, I didn't follow directions properly. I only took a sip of water with it, not a full glass as on the directions, I didn't know any better at the time, and afterwards I layed down on the couch. I didn't know you weren't supposed to lay down after taking medicines. So I started getting heartburn and acid reflex really bad and I felt so nauseous.... I also had spicy food that day, which didn't seem to help, so I started to vomit.... And I never took it again after that... This was just 2 days ago.

I started reading about Doxycycline online and I read that it is very important to drink plenty of water because Doxycycline can get caught in your esophagus and burn it, its acidic and can cause ulcers in your esophagus... so I got scared and stop taking it... I just felt the medicine was too strong... A lot of people also seem to take it for acne... I just really hated it.

I hate feeling nauseous the most, it's not a good feeling.

Odds are you will be fine, not trying to freak you out as that would be way to easy to do. Just do get it properly cleaned tomorrow and next time follow the instructions on all medications.

There are many antibiotics that have very weird rules. Most should be taken with at least 8 ounces of water as a minimum. Some should be taken on empty stomach (1 hour after or before eating). Some you should sit upright for at least 30 minutes after taking. Others have the ability to cause the sun or artificial sun light to make you sick while you are on it. Blah blah.

Looking at your drugs name I would presume it is part of the tetracycline family, not one of the nuke em style antibiotics. In strength ability it is pretty low key unless you have some very specific issues which are not related to cysts.

PS unless a drug says take on empty stomach. Eat a small piece of ginger 10-20 minutes before taking it if your prone to upset stomachs.

Thanks for the tip! I didnt know that. There's lots of articles online saying that too... I will try it next time for sure, I hate nausea. Unfortunately I don't have ginger in the house right now.

If you buy the pickled type that may work and should, though I use fresh. You can buy pieces at every grocery story. Just wrap the whole unpeeled piece in a paper towel and put it in a zip lock to freeze it. It will last around a year that way if not longer. Otherwise it will spoil about at the same speed as a potato.

Then again you could just cover it with dirt and let it do its thing and water it every so often and dig it up when you need it. That would just be to much damn work for me.

I went to the doctor today.. they didnt clean it, just dressed it and gave me dressing; gauze, some pads to use before the gauze and tape...

Gave me a prescription for Clindamycin. Told me to take hot baths a lot and to keep it open so that it will drain... Said that baths will probably help me more than the antibiotics...

Now I just have to disinfect and clean my tub before I bathe in it cause I havent cleaned my tub for awhile....

Do you think its overkill to go to a surgeon for a cyst? They said they can do it in the office but I have #'s of surgeons available in case I want to go that route... Do you think I need conscious sedation for this or no? The doctor says my cyst is in an area that doesn't have a lot of nerves so it shouldn't be too bad.... Do you think its bearable with just local shots?
