Well, I wont die if I don't remove it, its considered harmless even tho its infected. Its mainly cause its getting big and ugly and for cosmetic reasons. Its just red right now because its infected but its not serious. To be honest it's been feeling very sore but I am more afraid of getting it out than the soreness. I am also afraid of the shots.

Pain!? take a fucking tylenol 3...

shiet... I sure hope you never need to get yer wisdom teeth removed or a root canal.. fuck you kno what you better not leave your house cause you might fall and break your leg..

The shit is infected.. you think your body isn't trying to tell you something?

GigoloShawn 09-10-2008 01:08 PM

I had one removed. Sub lingual - yum yum! I got one quick spray with aerosol Novocaine, and two swipes with the scalpel. 10W30 had nothing on the shit inside. Nothing.

Don't worry, you probably won't die.

At most, you'll have a fair bit of necrotic tissue that will have to be surgically removed. After that, you'll have a gaping hole in your body for a while, which might get infected again.

I had my wisdom teeth removed and it was not bad because I asked for CONSCIOUS SEDATION, which means that they put me to sleep but it is not as drastic as general anaesthesia and I was still breathing on my own. The best part is I DONT REMEMBER ANYTHING! I dont even remember them giving me novocaine injections in my mouth! Or them giving me stitches! When I woke up I felt drunk and funny and I couldn't help laughing!

The bleeding was disgusting but I had no pain from that! For the cyst the doctor says she never heard of anyone getting sedated... for wisdom teeth its very common though apparently but not a sebaceous cyst. its an in-office procedure even though it requires stitches.

I did get stitches for my wisdom teeth but i was asleep so dont remember, plus they were disolvable. i dont think they can use disolvable stitches for cyst, they are going to eventually be removed (when im awake)

im lucky i never broke a bone before. dont know how that feels...

I hope they can use aerosol novocaine o me! In all the videos I've watched and articles I read online they only use injections and not just one injection but around 2-3...

Stop being such a pussy. It'll hurt, but it gets better, and quickly. It's only going to get worse if you let it fester longer.

klaze 09-10-2008 01:17 PM

Stop reading articles and talk to your doctor and TELL him what you want. You are going to drive yourself insane.

Libertine 09-10-2008 01:20 PM

Oh, I almost forgot: you could also contract MRSA after the removal of the cyst, in which case you're royally fucked.

bloggingseo 09-10-2008 01:20 PM

Thankfully I've never had one shoooo

I have to let it fester, they wont remove it while its infected. Thats why they gave me antibiotics so it can die down a bit first, im still taking the pills.

sick!!!! im scared, i dont want that!!

MRSA infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria — often called "staph." MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It's a strain of staph that's resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. MRSA can be fatal.

bausch 09-10-2008 01:30 PM

Well I read MRSA can mainly affect people with compromised immune systems and people in a hospital setting, i wont get going to a hospital, just doctors office for 1 hour max and my immune system is pretty good i think...

plus washing your hands very well should help somewhat. so i think i will be ok?

klaze 09-10-2008 01:31 PM

I think you should also talk to your doctor about putting you on Effexor for your anxiety.

Well, here's what your sebaceous cyst will look like after it's removed and the wound is clean:

GigoloShawn 09-10-2008 01:32 PM

Congratulations, you're a hypochondriac. A sebaceous cyst is nothing fatal, and is very unlikely to cause anything but discomfort. The chances of a healthy person of getting MRSA are nearly zero today. If you had full-blown aids, maybe.

Don't listen to him.

Quote:

In the past decade or so the number of MRSA infections in the United States has increased significantly. A 2007 report in Emerging Infectious Diseases, a publication of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), estimated that the number of MRSA infections treated in hospitals doubled nationwide, from approximately 127,000 in 1999 to 278,000 in 2005, while at the same time deaths increased from 11,000 to more than 17,000.[2] Another study led by the CDC and published in the October 17, 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association estimated that MRSA would have been responsible for 94,360 serious infections and associated with 18,650 hospital stay-related deaths in the United States in 2005.[3][4] These figures suggest that MRSA infections are responsible for more deaths in the U.S. each year than AIDS.[5]

Ok, thanks... my cyst is kinda big though, when I feel it it feels like 1 and a half inches....
is it still minor?

Ok, i wont worry about msra then, someone just posted about it so i got curious and started reading... I am not a hypochondriac! I am just scared of needles and surgery!

TubeTitans_SusieQ 09-10-2008 01:38 PM

I just got a cyst drained myself...the shot numbs the skin but not when they cut you, it really is a small procedure and as long as they give you meds after wards it should help the pain..also depending on the packaging...i had a catheter.... a little tube with a balloon inserted....sometimes on other cysts they put in gauze, no of it hurts after they cut you.

You're still at risk.

A population-based study of the incidence of MRSA infections in San Francisco during 2004-5 demonstrated that nearly 1 in 300 residents suffered from such an infection in the course of a year and that greater than 85% of these infections occurred outside of the health care setting {Liu et al., A population-based study of the incidence and molecular epidemiology of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus disease in San Francisco, 2004-2005. Stupid, that article refers to cases contracted outside of healthcare settings, meaning technically I COULD get MSRA even if I had no cyst and nothing was wrong with me. Anyone can get it period. Stop trying to psych me out!

Actually, the open wound you'll have increases your risk greatly. Aside from that, the antibiotics you're taking, and the infection you have, can both weaken your immune system. Plus, the doctor's office actually is a medical setting. Lots of people with different diseases and infections come in, and leave nasty bugs behind. MRSA could be one of those bugs, and the slightest lapse on the part of your doctor's cleaner could make it possible for a bug like mrsa to live there for a while, until some unlucky bastard (you) picks it up.

It's funny because it's true :1orglaugh

So all in all its not considered a big deal right? Its only minor right? Its not dangerous or bad like heart surgery or stomach surgery right? Its just nothing right? Can someone reassure me? From one through ten how serious is my procedure

Relax, you nervous wreck.

This is about as severe as getting a tooth pulled, bruising a rib or dislocating a finger. Yes, there's a tiny risk of complications, but then again, there's also a tiny risk of getting hit by a bus on the way to the doctor's office.

Even if my cyst is almost two inches big? I'm not sure if its that big but when I feel it it feels big. Its not a tiny cyst. Its been there for years and I never had it removed.

After Shock Media 09-10-2008 06:08 PM

On a serious scale from 0-10 a cyst removal would rank in at about 0.05 on such a scale. That is assuming a broken finger is at least a .5

I never had a broken finger before.. i would put a broken finger as a 2 on 1-10 scale :disgust

what if my cyst is almost 2 inches big, is it still .05 on a 1-10 scale?

How come the shots don't numb it when they cut you? I thought was the point of the shot, so you cannot feel them cutting you. I don't wanna feel that!

i never measured it before, I just measured it and its actually 2.5 -2.75 inches! Its infected so I don't know if's the puss or abscess and swolleness of it making it appear bigger than it really is. It IS infected right now so it could be why it's looking so puffy. It feels puffy. It looks puffy too.
