that's about what I figured, since my last receipt was at 12:49. I know the store admin's went down first, because when I checked, I was able to access the front page, then nothing. Hopefully it's got something to do with their adding new billing.

ninavain 09-14-2008 03:30 PM

wow still down, the whole site:Oh crap

Ryan St. Germain 09-14-2008 03:43 PM

I can't log in via ftp either, so it's probably a server issue.

The main URL is up, looks like it is coming back around...
After 4 1/2 hours or so - I'm glad!

I'm still getting database errors from C4S... dunno what's going on here. I am reporting the errors as the pages say to do... :(

fitzmulti 09-14-2008 07:43 PM

About 2/3 of my stores are back up as of this writing. Some are showing db errors...I am sure that is indicative of the database getting rebuilt...

Lucky you. None of mine are back. I'm sure you are right though, about the database.

Barefootsies 09-14-2008 08:03 PM

I talked to Neil.

He said a Tropical Storm hit OH where their servers are based. Knocking out the power.

I can FTP now, so I take it life is pretty close to fully functional...

Obviously if everything was 'peachy' at the time I had read your contract, and the percentages were mutually beneficial. Then I would have signed up. I am not going to leave money on the table for a fair offer any more than the next guy. It's common fucking sense.

Hey, I'm really not trying to start an argument. I just want everyone to understand how our contract works. A copy of which can be found here: http://www.clips.com/docs/clipscontract.pdf

Now, just to clear up any confusion. Clips.com webmaster payouts = 20%. Clips.com provider payouts = 40%. Any traffic that you bring to clips.com, your stores or any others, that converts will payout 20%. If that traffic also bounces over to the vod site, and also converts, the payout is 25%.

Dan, so it stands to reason that if a studio who also has sites sends a click and that person purchases a video owned by your own studio, you will in effect end up getting 60% of the purchase price, right? 40% as a studio and 20% on top of that (in a separate check I imagine) as a webmaster, right?

bump for Jimmy Gunn

danclips 09-15-2008 05:47 PM

Jim, That is 100% correct. We have actually started to combine the payments on one check though. Everything is itemized on the stub. It doesn't make sense to send out separate payments for all of the programs that we have.

If we were to payout 60%, plus an additional 20% through the affiliate program..... Well, you do the math. Our savviest providers know how to use our program to it's full potential. By giving you the ability to send your targeted traffic, your potential to earn is limitless.

danclips 09-15-2008 05:49 PM

Also, that person that came to your clips.com store through your link will remain your affiliate for a minimum of 90 days. As long as they keep coming back to the site with in 90 days, they will remain yours. And anything they purchase on clips.com will earn you 20%.

Okay Dan, I like what I am hearing. I am going to read over the contract and then contact you about a white label. I have hundreds of clips to sell.

Just one question though, if they sign up from my link and then make a purchase on day one, and more purchases after that up until ninety days, then they make another purchase on the ninety-first day the affiliate doesn't earn any more on the purchases after ninety days, right?

danclips 09-16-2008 04:42 AM

NO. as long as they keep purchasing, that 90 days keeps extending. If they don't come back for 91 days, they go back into the pool.

Make sure you get them their contract in 2 mother fucking days.

I had signed up with them, among others. I uploaded some clips on Sat night when this thread was going on. Launched, or opened, YooGirls and clips.com stores. Sunday I get e-mail store is open on clips.com. Made a sale or two. Monday night I get an e-mail saying that it's disabled because they have not received the contract.

Apparently I was supposed to send it by pony express. There was no fax number on their site, contract, or admin. So I threw it in the mail. Fucking ridiculous.

Needless to say I just told them to delete store, and content. If they are this ridiculous coming out of the gate, I can only image what will happen during payment and support.

I don't think it's unreasonable to be asked to snail mail a contract in. Should only take a few days to do that. What's your hurry, you waited so long already?

Nah. Just not worth it to me. I had thrown it in the mail.

Their site said I had they needed to receive it in 10 days or it would be disabled. Not 2. When I establish new relationships, I expect them to follow whatever is laid out. I work hard for my money. Not going to take the chances.

Plus if you look at Alexa, they have the same traffic as most of the other clip stores. So it's no loss.

danclips 09-16-2008 10:41 AM

Actually, we give providers 15 days from the time that their first clip is posted to get the contract in to me. All accounts remain active for a period of 15 days while I wait for the contract. After 15 days, the account is disbaled until the contract reaches me.

In effect, you could start a store today, add clips, have your first clip approved by me and start making money tonight.

At 10 days, a friendly reminder is sent out.

This has not changed from day one.

Not true.

I posted first clip Sat night I believe it was. Emails received last night. Do the math. Keep your story straight.

So which story is it that hasn't changed?

danclips 09-16-2008 10:51 AM

Barefootsies, I just checked, the reason that your account was set back to non viewable is because you created your account on 2008-05-09 and are well past the 15 days we give to send in the contract. I am going to send you an email right now to make arrangements for you to fax your contract to me so that I can keep your account active while I wait for a hard copy.

danclips 09-16-2008 10:56 AM

I apologize, it is from the time that your account was created, not the time your first clip was added. Your account was created on 2008-05-09.

Have you faxed your contract to the number listed at the bottom of that email?

I am not going to buy into your hostility, but I am a very easy guy to work with if you would like to work with me.

The fax machine is right here. Get that contract to me! :) I just enabled your account again, but it's going to revert like cinderella's pumpkin at midnight. That, I can't stop.
