Well, I can tell you what happened to me today. Over the past two years I have slowly lost nearly 100lbs (couple pounds to go). I had a check up at my doctor this morning to discuss medications that I have been on for the past four or so years to help with a hormonal condition. Well, as of today I no longer am on any medication because blood tests show there is no longer a need. That is down to eating better and dropping weight. I am looking forward to seeing what happens with the next 50lbs as I hit goal.

All the above. in your list that is.

I know that my good cholesterol is higher than normal, so that's good. My weigh fluctuates up and down. Hopefully as more of that drops, I get out of the 100's for the diabetes risk. I have been in the low 100's while doing my blood tests. I would like to get out of that shit. |

Energy is amazing, but I cut out alcohol 3 years ago too which makes all the difference first of all. Yep hair grows faster, almost half way down my back after trying to grow it out long since about 02. I sleep better, metabolism is fantastic. My weight always teetered up and down 10 pounds or so, enough to have to get new pants either direction. I gave away a bunch of my smaller cute jeans and then became a vegetarian, now I need to buy new pants as my size hasn't changed in about a year now! It is rather amazing. I don't eat animal products, but I can eat just about anything else and stay slim and healthy now. I don't do much fast food either, other than subway or chinese. Being female past thirty, people almost assume your ass is going to get huge for no reason. :1orglaugh |
this thread is a winner

I'm having a hard time taking on a diet. I feel and see myself fat, but others told me that my body is just fine. I really want to lose some weight. |

I'm considering the blood of children to sustain me. No, but really...cleanses are what makes me feel that way. I can party like a madman, eat like shit and gorge on all things hedonistic for a few months as long as I take a month and cleanse like mad. :winkwink: |
Congrats Bd!
I have totally changed my eating habits and lost 11 pounds so far and still going full force!! That is alot on a 5 foot tall woman lol woooo fucking hoooooo!! |
At 360 I could barely walk up stairs without it hurting my body.
Losing weight meant I smelled awful and was a bit cranky (low sugar levels) but after awhile my entire outlook on life changed. Being fat and sitting online all day lends to the "omg my life sucks" attitude. Being healthy can only encourage you to achieve great things. |

My diet tips are boring - count calories, eat your veggies, exercise and play for the long game rather than thinking there is a quick fix. It was actually finally getting to grips with that last one that allowed me to stick with things this long.

I do not really 'diet' per se. I watch my diet, in regards to what I am eating.
For example, I eat a lot of those Healthy Choice steamers. I also pick up a Stouffers Baked Chicken, and Mashed Potatoes, and Chunky Veggie Soup, Healthy Choice (less salt) things for the bulk of my main meals. They are under 300 cals each. For 'treats'. I pick up those Andes mints. You have have 8 of them, and it's like 200 calories or something. I am out, so I would have to read them when I have them, but out of most of the candy. I have to have something good, but low calories. Having 8 of those tiny mints almost makes me think I have had a 1500 candy bar. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |

don't count calories, but make healthy choices
every meal should have colorful vegetables in them, dark green salads and spinach and brocolli and green or red peppers etc etc etc, beans are extremely good, if you eat grains make sure they are whole grains ie. whole grain breads, tortillas, etc.... cultured milk products are great ie. yogourt, kefir, etc... avoid fried foods completely, avoid artificial foods and flavors, avoid refined sugar products, no soda it isn't that hard and you can eat all you want if you are eating the healthiest choices, and it isn't like a diet where you go on and off, once you get used to the taste of healthy foods you won't want anything else ie. soda pop tastes like nasty artificial sugar syrup etc. going to an organic grocer like Whole Foods is a great idea, even if you aren't completely convinced of organic, but overall the natural healthy choices are much easier to make there (and really, who can argue against eating food with no hormones and pesticides in it?) |
I'm on a Low carb high fat "diet"...
1. You are sick less? No change. I haven't been sick in years so I can't say. Not even a cold this winter. :thumbsup 2. Your energy level is up? Yes, a lot. 3. Your hair grows like a mother fucker? In my opinion people should learn how to cook. These days it is all about fast food or frozen dinners. I would say that 19 out of 20 meals I have are home cooked balanced meals. Use you kitchen!!!

You should really try getting away from that prepackaged stuff. It all has way too much sodium in it. I can always tell when I've been taking in too much sodium... I feel like crap. |
