I can't see them able to hold on. Penthouse will more than likely buy out the struggling properties. I hope Lensman was paid in Cash. :)

Just happened to look up some others...
Ford Motors -- $2.01 fucking insane |
Ford Market cap is 4+ Billion. Big Difference. The price of a stock doesn't mean that's what they are worth. If one stock has 100,00 shares issued and another has 4 billion issued there is a big difference.

Playboy is a great brand, but they are spending money on the magazine and all the special editions that is not worth it. Forget stopping DVD production. The company would save a lot if they became an online media company instead.
The magazine has been in the red for years, while Playboy TV, Spice, Jenna and licencing the bunny/playboy brand to everyone. |

Market cap is $37.5M
Surely someone on here has that kind of cash laying around for a takeover Of course you'll also get about $260M in dept for that money. |
just posting here is showing your support for playboy, no ?
|
how much stock do I have to buy to get me a Mansion Party ticket for next month?
anyone heard about it anyway? PB Webmasters is silent |
Playboy need to push onto the Internet harder, why embarrassingly buy a mag when you can privately log into and buy access to a site.
They also need to strengthen the brand with some more BIG reality TV shows... Worldwide search for the next big bunny, get everyone involved, make it an event, leverage the brand... Push to getting celebrities in the mags/on the net... More TV shows.... MORE TV SHOWS... PUSH the merchandise more... For some reason girls like to buy into being "sluts"... Capitalize on it more. Stick to the very highest quality women - girls you can't find everyday on the net... PERFECT women... and celebrities (I hate celebs - but they get attention). |
The problem with playboy is too many people in three different parts of the country doing too many different things and the chiefs to busy worrying about covering their asses and getting
their bucks out like every other big company in America:thumbsup They are waiting for their bailout like everyonr else:Graucho |

Too many companies almost seem to be blind with their product to me, typically those that were prosperous in the times, when the offer and ways how to market adult / porn was way more limited. The ratio between people who Know the brand / people who PAY for the brand is obviously going the wrong direction. On the other hand - check Hustler and their online division, Larry started seriously in online in 96 and also made a great move choosing WebQuest (I guess two years later) to care about their web properties. |
PB will go private and focus on web

Playboy has 20 international editions: USE the best of that content also for the US Playboy magazine and especially for the Cyber Club.
The international Playboy editions have local celebrities, beauty queens & models posing for them, you think there might be some hot women amongst them? Also include ALL the celebrities that have been featured in Playboy magazine over the years in the Cyber Club. The International Magazine section in the Cyber Club has only 26 pictorials, have more of them please, most of these women put the "100th fake boobed amateur of the niched PB sites" to shame Playboy should have women you can't see anywere else + Playboy can get them, so what's the hold up? |
Thread pending deletion ...

Playboy is in the publishing / media business. The primary revenue stream for publishing / media is advertising. Advertising spending is closely linked to the economy. During an economic downturn companies cut costs. Step 1 is layoffs (since payroll is the #1 expense for most businesses), the next expense on the chopping block is sales / mktg expense (advertising, etc). In other words, the media business is very sensitive to changes in the economy.
|
any business is only as strong as its management/leadership. "brand" has very little to do with anything in and of itself
not sure why people think playboy should survive and thrive without knowing anything about them, who's running the show, what their plans are and how they plan to adapt to a new media reality (which they ignored until they were bankrupt anyway) |
How is playboy's market cap 37 mil when I just read Heff is worth 200-400 mil?
|
If the mansion is not leveraged you could buy and sell the mansion and break even. Then put the full plyboy archive on the web and sell a decent membership to it. People would rebill for the ten years it takes to jerk off to it.
It is true the Brazil pb magazine is filled with stars and celebrities here in Brazil. The name brand is huge here. It is not slutty but a glamourous thing to be in playboy. |

They need to get back to their roots. |

so when can we expect to see the Brazilian Playmates in PB Webmaster sites, those might sell really well Playboy is a global brand, wish Playboy would use that for their online activities another example: the Playboy Shop only ships to 4 or 5 countries |
I am 50 and grew up with Playboy but can't remember the last time I saw a copy anywhere. Everything has it's time and then if you don't move on you die.
|
that sucks big time! But the dollar is doing alright...
|
Playboy shares up on Friday 80% ?
|
I made a few $ Friday. Thank you Playboy :thumbsup

"Playboy Enterprises Inc. is expected to lose 7 cents (U.S.) a share in the third-quarter, down from an 8-cent profit last year." but good for them, hope it keeps going up |
the transcript of the last conf call is now available, seriously a GREAT buy, they are doing the right thing it seems to keep up with times, cut expenses etc very rare in old companies
