The problem with the tube sites is that everybody wants to get in.
Be smart, people. There are some big tube sites that make a lot of traffic and therefore make bank.
What is killing the porn biz are the thousands of smaller tube sites which try to imitate the big ones.
What do you have compared to the big names in the tube biz? You have nothing. The only thing you could do to increase your tube sites popularity is showing full-length clips.
If you only show them 30 second clips, surfers will not stick around, because they have the big tube sites to go to.

I agree that the paysite model is dying. If you have solo models "in your stable", you can see that as a good thing.

I talked to a content producer yesterday and what he says is true, he, like myself, would just use our own content to make sites, buy content cheap for updates, rinse and repeat. There's no need to really shoot expensive new scenes anymore. Look at the big companies..all have cut back on the "new shoot" budget and some don't update AT ALL.

I have heard the same at some of the shows.

Sex has been sold since the beginning of humans. The ways have varied over the generations, but it was and always will be there in some form.

I have mainstream projects so the end of online adult will just mean more of a focus on mainstream.

fuzebox 11-09-2008 10:19 AM

I think a lot of you should start worrying about your own business, and not what the "big players" or the "industry" is doing. You don't actually need anyone else to make a lot of money in this industry, and if you choose, their actions don't have to affect you.

Is there anything more true than this? Everyone is interested in sex, and they all can't get it for real.

But many of them have broadband internet and can find shit on rapdishare if they look hard enough.

Wrong. Government can't do much. Even before they save us, they would have spend more time saving the music and mainstream video industry first. Since the internet evolve in the 90s, they haven't been successful so I wouldn't rely on them.

Also, they would prefer to wipe us all out and the easy way to do that is to just have a few big guys left in the biz and then kill them off.

The demand for porn will always be around in some form.

It's the negative thinkers and those who think only in the short-term who don't last in this business.

And I'm okay with that. :D

In tough times, cigarette and liquor sales go up. At the same time, the escort business goes down, which means people will turn to the cheaper alternative: porn.

It is true tube sites are hurting the business. It's much harder to upsell from a tube site than a tgp. A lot of the smaller/weaker affiliates will cash their chips in. Good for the rest of us.

Porn is perhaps the most fragmented industry in the world. There are no barriers to entry. For this reason, there will never be a consolidation into a couple of big players as several have predicted.

The paysite model isn't "dying"....What I DO think is that when the internet finally merges with television, paysites will evolve into "channels" that you subscribe to...

I just looked at some pics I've taken on my television through my xbox and once you set up a slideshow, you can just show the pictures while you sit on your couch and jack off....Video will do the same....

One day, the surfer will be able to choose between television stations and internet sites...He can use his "remote" to download the content he wants and can watch it right there....All we have to do is keep billing him.

Hell, look at netflix...It's REVOLUTIONIZED the way that I use their service....Most of the time, I just watch movies download off of the INTERNET through my xbox.

LadyMischief 12-17-2008 03:28 PM

Adult will never be OVER... pornography has been part of the human experience since humans walked the earth..even the ancient egyptians indulged in doodling pornographic images.....

It will simply grow, adapt and change as it always does, and those prepared for it will do well, and those who won't will go away. That's always the way, in ANY market that evolves.
