What model Dell 24"? I love it more than the 23" Cinema Display I have at the office.

Dell 24" Entry (E248WFP) Wide Screen Flat Panel LCD Monitor (ANA, DVI)

It's NOT the ultra sharp.

Heya multi-display gurus, I need your help!
Working on a 22" TFT attached to my notebook [15"]
I have the smaller display in the front of me and use photoshop on the big one.
My issue is very annoying: some photoshop tools/windows are popping up on the smaller display... Is it possible to prevent applications from doing this? :P

I use three

MrMaxwell 11-23-2008 06:06 AM

Trust me on this one.
Use both monitors as one big desktop.
Install Ultra-Mon and set it up to your liking.
Put taskbars on the extreme left and the extreme right.

and a few laptops (Mac, Dell, etc)

It's really hard to look at the little laptop screens after working on the 40 inch

the 40 inch Sonia Bravia is wicked and the rest are set up pretty sweet also coz with that size and the cordless keyboard you can use/see it from anywhere in the room!

I used to use an old Matrox Parhelia and now I use the Matrox M9140 LP PCIe x16:

So far so good! I really am enjoying this new card and the switch to 3x 22" wide format versus 3x19" square lcds :)

I've seen the 2 side by side in a showroom, they look exactly the same. I also read somewhere a year ago that their is some weird grey line issue with the ultra sharp. Maybe they fix it by now, but would prefer 2 monitors exactly the same so I have to decide now before a new model is on the market.

I have 3x19", 2x22" and 1x20" but use my laptop, with 15.4", the most :1orglaugh

Multiple monitors have been proven to increase productivity. I used to have two 19inch lcds, then went to one 24inch lcd and im really missing a second one. I will be getting one in the near future.

peedy 11-23-2008 07:20 PM

Also, be careful with companies that have two versions of their monitors. For example Dell has a high end (ultrasharp) 24 and a low end. They may have changed this by now but back when I got mine, I found out that the low end versions are only 6bit panels instead of 8bit. Which means you won't get full color reproduction. Most people this doesn't impact but photographers, video editors, and designers should want full color reproduction. Again, this might be fixed by now, but just a fyi for peeps.

I was running 30" + 24" for a while but wanted multiple systems around the house depending on where I needed to work.

Sebastian Sands 11-23-2008 09:45 PM

I have 2 x 24 widescreen Dell's on 2 different machines, but with one keyboard and mouse, hooked through synergy, as soon as I move my mouse to one screen I am working on that machine and can easily move back to the other screen and then i am working on the other,,, I love it.

WWC 11-23-2008 09:47 PM

Yes i use a few...always better...you can have multiple programs, screens, etc open....

Brooke Anderson 11-23-2008 09:52 PM

2 x 19" I could never go back to 1, even if it was huge.
