i mean seriously, you're going to go from asking how to get ripped abs to saying its a good idea to eat cake and drink gatorade as part of your balanced diet because its so easy for you to get ripped?

i bet theres plenty of meth heads and crackheads out there with ripped abs, that doesnt mean they're healthy or look good.

I would like to see what guys like WarChild and Jim_Gunn say about drinking Gatorade to replenish electrolytes... I can only guess that they would laugh.

I was going to post about that, but seeing the rest of his diet choices, I thought that Gatorade was the least of his problems.

He really needs to learn alot about food and diet choices, he might be the worst case I have seen in a long time other than people that really don't care about diet or exercise or health at all.

What you are doing is not healthy at all. Frankly you sound like a rejected 300 pound 16-year-old trying to get asked to the prom by going on a stupid crash diet, LOL.

Talk to a doctor before you regret it.

I don't have any heart problems. I just got a full check up. I am healthy as can be, I had a extreme panic attack. Im NOT on a diet, I just have no appetite. Eating anything I can right now that I am hungry for, cause otherwise I don't eat. And frankly a Salad, Fruit, and a piece of cake really are not all that unhealthy lol. Chicken wings are not all that unhealthy. Chicken is a good food for protein. I normally just hit the fast food places around me, or make a sandwich. Did anyone else swim 30 minutes today, do 200 situps, 100 pushups, and the rest of the stuff I named above? lol Im actually feeling great the last few days, weight loss was 90% from stress and not being able to eat. Kicking in the exercise program to keep the love handles, and gut I had off, and push myself so Ill get my appetite back.

i was curious too. me personally if im doing heavy activity i feel sick if i drink something sugary, i want water to quench my thirst and plenty of it. heres what i found:

"The American College of Sports Medicine says that during exercise lasting less than one hour there's little evidence of any difference in performance between exercisers who drink beverages containing carbohydrates and electrolytes, and those who drink plain water.

And, according to Clark, someone exercising 1.5 hours in a cool environment (who is probably not sweating much) is more in need of fluids or water than electrolytes. "

Umm are you saying that Gatorade doesn't have electrolytes in it? :uhoh

serving size: 8 fl oz; calories 50; total fat 0g; sodium 110mg; potassium 30mg; total carbs 14g; sugars 14g

I drink 12oz bottles. Maybe 2 a day. Im drinking that instead of the soda I usually drink. I hate drinking just plain water. Some of you guys are silly.

TheDoc 12-10-2008 09:50 PM

I'm in my mid 30's and have a clear 6 pack..

It's pretty simple, stop being lazy and don't eat a bunch of trash. Trash includes any kind of soda, beer, sugars or snacks, crap like chips. Then a couple times a week go for a walk and work on not slouching, which helps work your core.

The Military, works you harder and longer than any work out ever could.. 20-50 mile humps fully loaded down across mountain landscape is hell... We drink Water and only Water for a reason.

I've lived and trained in 100plus temp my whole life I have always been told with gatorade that you need to do like a 1 to 3 ratio 1 bottle gatorade per 3 bottles of water.... way to much salt in gatorade if your not sweating to just be drinking.. your going to retain water

No... I am saying that drinking Gatorade because you think you need the electrolytes after your workout is silly. If you want to drink Gatorade because you like it, go balls out... drinking it because you just did it work out is nonsense.

d-null 12-10-2008 09:56 PM

one simple fact is that processed foods are generally worse choices than unprocessed foods

the cake you talk about is nothing but refined sugar and bleached flour, all of the nutritional goodness is long gone

gatorade is more artificial crap and unnecessary electrolytes http://healthinmotion.wordpress.com/...d-of-bollocks/

you need to balance your meals better, a meal should have whole protein, and healthy carbs and fats, it sounds like most of your meals are not balanced

also, don't delude yourself into thinking that you have lost many pounds of fat in 3 days, the reality is that you have lost water weight, it is a simple reality that the body can only lose and process a very small amount of bodyfat per day :2 cents:

chicken is good for protein, chicken breast. you cant compare that to chicken wings which are usually breaded and deep fried with more greese than meat. have you even ever read any nutritional information at fast food places? they have more sodium than you should be getting all week.

I like it, and its better than drinking soda.

Im not looking to be Aahnold here. Just looking to tone everything up, and increase muscle definition overall. I went from 164 to 147 in the last 3.5 weeks. I doubt its water loss since I drink lots of fluids every day. Especially since I had good sized love handles and gut when I was at 164. Wasn't a great way to do it, and it wasn't a planned diet. Just no appetite for nearly a month, and I was even at my moms for thanksgiving eating her awesome cooking. I ate very little even then.

I feel great like I said the last 3 or 4 days, and am looking fitter everyday, and pushing myself to get toned. Thanks for all the advice though.

No breading for me, this is real buffalo wings, with good sauce. mmm.

If you want your gut to go away, drop all soda and kick the Gatorade, stop eating cakes of any kind... The sugars are super bad for your gut. As d-null said, processed foods are bad for you, and super bad is processed meats.

Biggest secret is portion control... Eat smaller amounts of food per sitting and you will get to a point so you don't each as much, and you will drop to your proper weight.

you can drink alot and still lose water weight, it is all about water retention, which can be partially affected by food choices, and hormones and electrolyte levels among other things

and no you shouldn't be striving to look like Arnold, but you should strive for health, and the food choices that you seem to be making are not the best path to healthy longevity

PornstarXS 12-10-2008 11:39 PM

i would say i'm in pretty good shape for my age 33, 6'-0" 230 muscular, broad shoulders thick back... i like romantic walks in dark alleys lol started sounded like a lowered expectations ad.

but on to the advice, i hate dieting i eat like a pig otherwise i feel quite weak in the gym. i never work on abs, they have a mind of their own depending on what i ate. Luckily i was a skinny kid growing up and have thin joints, so all the muscle looks even bigger. it's true a lot has to do with diet and genetics.

try eliminating pastas, eat more vegetables gets you crapping regularly. drink lots of water. i dont do cardio because it seems redundant to go to the gym to run on a treadmill for an hour. So my workout is 40-60 minutes, heavy sets, lots of sets, sweaty sets. you have to sweat and dont rest more than 30 seconds between sets, you'll get ripped in no time especially if your slim. most people in the gym never break a sweat and take 5 minute breaks between sets and those are usually the beer bellied short guys who try doing 3 plates on bench press, making up for napoleon complexes or even worse sweating nicotine i apologize i had to slip in a pet peeve.

oh and if you want to burn fat with help of cardio, do cardio for at least 40 minutes. 20 minutes is nothing you dont start burning any fat until you get to 40 minutes. also for better results, try doing 40 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach but be careful. so the food for the rest of the replenishes your body and isnt fueling your body for a later day workout. oh and get 7-9 hours of sleep, the lack of sleep will not make your muscles grow or burn fat. The more you workout regularly the more your body will continue burning fat throughout the whole day.

oh and diet wise, lots of meat, chicken especially. sweet potatoes, raw broccoli, brown rice if you crave rice or pasta, stay away from alcohol as well. i've never been a fan of eating lots of fruits since fruits contain lots of natural sugars and will make you smooth. a good protein supplement is good, i take 1 shake (25-40g) immediately after my workout. it's better to eat food if you can.

hmm other tricks. let me think. well if you want to make your waist look slim, whether you have ripped abs or not, you can widen your shoulders or back, the infamous V shape. Best way is heavy back exercises. The best is bent over rows but that could slowly wear on your lower back. Also wide grip chin ups. And if you are weight training, whether you bench press, pulldown, bicep curl, etc always keep your stomach tight. like Blade said in Blade 3 ... "UUUUUSE IT!" contraction is the key for ripping muscles. You can also do Arnold's old trick of keeping a small waist - which is the vacuum, suck and hold in your stomach in for 30 second increments, then gradually increase to longer times. What you end up doing is tightening your internal organs/stomach together into lesser volume.

working out is a good stress reliever, the less you think about it and go in the gym or stay at home and sweat it out the better. I like training heavy on certain exercises, but safety first - i wouldnt go doing anything crazy to try and get a six pack. Your body will progress gradually, there's no such thing as spot training. sure you can increase a muscle in certain area but usually you increase the size of adjoining muscle groups. It's the same with fat, if you want ripped abs you're probably going to have 10-12% body fat, that means losing fat everywhere.

i hope that helps in some way, maybe gives you something else to try. I work out for fun but my brother has his certified trainer license. the key is doing something that will keep you motivated but not obsessed, stay healthy and keep reaching for the pornstars :)

d-null 12-10-2008 11:48 PM

^^^

agree with pretty much everything PornstarXS is saying, good words of wisdom

Valkyria Studios 12-10-2008 11:51 PM

Just do simple crunches, lower leg lifts, and oblique exercises. Don't exceed more than 30 reps in a set, and do several sets. You've lost the exterior fat, now you have to lose the fat between your abs.

PornstarXS 12-11-2008 12:29 AM

ValkyriaSTudios suggested good exercises. lower leg lifts are good to get rid of the pooch, 'gunt' the deposit under the belly button. only addition is never use weights when doing abs, crunches or those ab machines, or oblique excercise. use your body weight. what happens to a lot of people who get obsessive with abs is that they do build muscular abs which ends up making your stomach looking even bigger. it's hard to keep the ripped look, generally you have to be pretty strict - but dont become one of those crazies. a regular full body workout routine will make your results last longer. when people try and lose weight - people often set goals and do reach them, it's the maintenance which is harder. good luck - and hey sometimes the best abs in the world need to relax and be big and round and hairy like ron jeremy's gunt. can i hear a WHOA JEREMY! the best one pack in the business

Yeah, also the places where you tend to put on fat the quickest (for men usually the stomach) is the last place it tends to come off. Sucks but that's life.

Ive lost 35lbs since November. No love handles, no gut. Fairly ripped, but have been lazy last few weeks on the workouts. Getting back to them this week, will post a pic next week or so of before and after.

Just an update. Not quite there, but I went down 2"'s on my waist size, and starting to see some definition. Arms and back are getting built up nicely, as is the muscles on my upper shoulders. Getting a nice V starting around my hips too, though its hard to see in the pic. Btw I got the iron gym thing for hanging in the doorway, and have it in a place I walk through the doorway a lot, so I try to do at least 10 chinups, pullups etc when I walk through. Do at least 100 pushups, 200 situps, and 100 pullups a day. Pullups do mostly in groups of 10 and try to do 10 sets a day. Pushups 2 sets of 50. Situps I just power through and do 200 right off.

Anywho here is a quick pic I just snapped.

It's not about genetics,

it's about DIET and EXERCISE.

You will never get those ripped up abs if you aren't eating like a bird.

High protein low carb diets.

Also, try using an ab ball. All the rest is just bullshit.
