Well this thread sure did not go as planned.
The new design in my eyes is O.K not great but OK. However waiting three months and needing it completed in time for as show and then not getting it is not acceptable. It would look to me if all the facts are correct that some financial burden should fall on the designer. It is rare that a man of JFK's integrity starts any drama on the boards, so I think we can take his word on the integrity of Due. |
Come on guys....
It's the most wonderful time of the year... We got blunts that are rolled, we got bitches and hoes and jager and beer... It's the most wonderful time of the year... |
guide to both designers and customers (of any kind)
When you pay someone to do a job, make sure you have a written agreement of what needs to be done. As soon as the designer or customer step outside of that agreement, money will need to change hands. So: 1 - designer makes first layout 2 - customer want X things fixed 3 - designer fix X things 4 - if "X things" is now fixed as planned, the design is done 5 - Customer want Y things fixed. 6 - "Y things" was never mentioned in the first places, so that is something new, and should therefore never be included in the price 7 - Customer and provider agree on a price for "Y" or the customer takes it as it is It is after all what the customer ordered If the deadline was pushed more then 1,5 month, the agreement should have mentioned the customer getting a full refund. I learned it the hard way - I have probably wasted more than 2 years of time and income, on GOOD projects that was never completed, because there was never a solid agreement of what needed to be done. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.... |
yeah merry xmas, no drama :)

I am not really going to say much about the current task at hand between Due and this particular situation because I wasn't behind the scenes with it and don't know what was said back and forth between the two..... so I can't really comment on that part.
HOWEVER, what I can comment on is that I have done so much business with Due in the past 10 years that I can honestly give an opinion on his work ethics and the way he deals with things honestly and upfront..... he has NEVER ever been anyting but honest with me and upfront about everything. There was a time when I did some text work for him, a few years back, and he was picky, that I'll give anyone, but he's successful because of that picky thing.... and no it didn't always stay on point or whatever, minds would change and visions would change in the process of doing things with him...... but ALWAYS I agreed to the changes and never asked for more money in the process of making said changes, and this is MY fault, for telling him I'd make the changes, not his. If I had said "I'll make the changes and it'll cost you more" then he would have paid more, but when you agree to make changes and nothing is said about paying more then you eat that, not the client..... this should be made up front from the word go. Sooooooooo....... while I have never done any business whatsoever with Alien, I HAVE done both business and friendship with Due and he's never ever been anything but professional, respectable and kind to me... not even one time. :thumbsup |

Ye - as I said - learnd the hard and expensive way. Not exactly a senario im proud of today when looking back :( |
1. That design sucks ass for $1750
2. I can totally understand where AlienQ is coming from. I've had my fair share of clients infinitely requesting changes. I think it's best to list the work you're going to do, the amount of changes and the price for additional changes. Be organised (this is for both the designer AND the client). |
