I don't understand why your vets get treated so badly. When my father came back from WWII he was a wreck and he got the best treatment available till the day he died. Once he died my mother got gold-plated treatment till she passed away.

My son is not long back from 12 months duty at the sharp end in East Timor - even though he's fit and healthy the government will look after him for the rest of his life plus he now qualifies for low interest housing loans and all sorts of other benefits that US vets don't seem to get.

obviously this is why the US ground forces REQUESTED the top Canadian sniper unit as protection. They beat the US team for accuracy in US sponsered tournaments and have many kills already in Afganistan.........

My uncle was a major in the US Army. He was able to avoid Vietnam only to be killed in a small uprising in the Dominican Republic at the same time. Only about 15 americans died in that one.

My grandfather was an engenieer who before WW2 invented turning signals on cars for a company called austin. (the first ones were'nt lights, they were sticks) - he then developed gun sites on ships that compensated for the rocking motion and allowed gunners to hit enemy aircraft much better. Because he was valueable to the war effort they wanted him out of england. During the height of the war he was transported to canada in a convoy of 3 ships. 2 were sunk by Uboats and they weren't able to stop to pick up survivors.

I have a lot of respect for Nov 11.
