I did have a server there, and about a week after the sale it was gone, no notice, no email nothing. Just gone.

I was with Jupiter Hosting for many years.
Never a problem. Always a great host...

I even endorsed them and sent them tons of customers.
It was my unofficial duty to do so. And I did. Without any problem.

In fact they still host here. GFY.

I left them back in November... Gave notice and left.
I get a december bill along with November. I tell them Ive left again and close everything.. No servers or BW being used..

Then the next month January I get another bill.
Then Feb another. I tell them again. Ive left close and stop billing.

March I get another bill.

Not to mention this is for a 10mpbs P4 server at $696.00 a month
So its adding up. $ 4,649.49 to be exact..

I tell them im not going to pay this. We need to work something out. I have emails and copies of support tickets.

They say not only are you going to pay this, but we are going to charge you a FEE as well!

A $5,000.00 Termination fee.

So you owe us $9,000.00

Im thinking WTF. This is a fucking shakedown.
Shady collection agents call all the time...
I tell them to fuck off and this is not legit.

Now an attorney in my home town is wanting, or I should say threating to take me to court.

I say again, what the fuck?

I contact Navisite (the new owners of Jupiter) and they have no idea who I am, nor do they care.

I told them helped bring biz to them, always paid my bills on time (for overpriced hosting) and never had problems with the old owners. They were family.

They could care less. Payup..

And payup this fine..

Im trying to get a hold of the old Jupiter people to ask them if there is anything in that contract that would allow them to charge me this fine.. Ive never heard of such a thing.

I was with them for almost 4 years. According to Poppy who I signed the contract with he was not familar with any contracts being long term..

Anyhow even if they were, its 4 years

If ya sign a contract for a year worth of hosting and want out there's a termination fee sometimes. But the fee is in the contract, I doubt they can just make one up. I'm "guessing" Boneprone didn't sign or renew any contract though.

I looked at my contract, and the length of the contract was for the amount of time put in the blank. 24 Months I also remember just like my phone contract, anytime I changed Anything, like added ram, they would Extend the contract.

Like I said, I loved Jupiter Hosting. I was family. When they sold unlike many in the adult biz I stayed with them for a while.

They never once said hello, introduced themselves to me or anything. All the old staff was gone. Which is fine. this is a biz.. And I can understand communication issues as well. It was a new company taking over Jupiter, so sure there was probably some communication errors in getting my stuff canceled. When new companies transition all sorts of things can happen. Ill give em the benefit of the doubt.

But month after month of telling them to close my stuff. Bill after bill coming.

And then now the attorneys coming after me.

i did sign one back in 2003 I think it was. And never looked back.

I talked to poppy. The sales rep that sent me my contract back in 2003, talked to him just now, and he said he has never heard of such thing.

I had no problem paying these rates becasue they were comping me on another server for free to promote them. I just signed it and paid em.

I would look over the contract or get a copy from someone who signed the same one back then. I doubt there's a 5k termination fee in there, if there's not I doubt they can just charge you whatever fee they want. It's gotta have a time limit too, they can't sign you up for lifetime worth of hosting and then charge you a termination fee when you want out. Sounds like BS to me. You wanted out and told them a long time ago, so you shouldn't have to pay for those months. I'd just get a good lawyer, but he's going to ask for the contract so try to find it and go over it yourself...

it was a piece of shit hosting company even when Lensman had some ownership in it

I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!
