BTW, they guy who suggested the dating site did you know that:

1) Gary Kremen bought match.com in 1994 because he wanted to get laid!?

FYI: My good friend started 1andonlypersonals.com - grew it to 180,000 affiliates, $1MM a month in rev. with 70 employees. Match.com had 7 employees and was just starting out when TicketMaster came in and bought them both and put them together. My buddy just met his wife on Match last year. - good story

Non adult ideas are welcome too, but keep 'em 'til the second page please.

Survey says 20 000 000 people will get their first tattoo in 2009. :winkwink:

Let's wait on that. When my ex gets on her feet the congrats will be warranted, everybody got what they wanted at the end, 'til then let's have some patience. :)

You didn't hear because you stopped coming to the closed board :) Not everything is made public nowadays :). I started the blog there, and if you let a single word out - I know where you live :)

Gary sold his domain real cheap, he needed money to fight for sex.com

Joesho 01-21-2009 07:49 PM

Serge I got one, I will need another 90 days to talk to you about it though.

I want to get a few things in line with it first.

Sorry to hear about your divorce, I hope all is well for you.

A dating website with cams...put the money into some late night TV advertising and some Guerrilla marketing in all the major cities around the world. I also met my wife from Match.com, I am sure others would love to spend a couple of dollars for a membership in order to meet your future partner.

Non-adult, I would promote the sport of one-wall Handball which is currently huge in New York City...and starting to spread. HandballCity

If someone gave me that money right now...I would put the money into something safe like government securities and let it grow for 10 years...and then leave my day job. 10 years ago I would have day traded that money and thought I would make 10 million...but now I have more sense.:1orglaugh

Handball.....who could have thought?

Joe, this is my favorite business plan (works in personal, life too!)

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under
the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to
pluck up
that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time
to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to
dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a
time to
embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Invest it in people who work hard.

Brujah 01-22-2009 06:42 AM

Creative loans to these guys with "great ideas." Take a small % of profits + normal loan payments w/interest.

Good idea but prostitution is illegal in USA :)

Brujah 01-22-2009 07:05 AM

Renting climate controlled space for others to cellar their wine and beer, which typically mean they'd be renting for several years or forever.

NoComments 01-22-2009 07:30 AM

hard to compete with the established ones in this economy. The last few vintages of Bordeaux were floppes too
:(

NoComments 01-22-2009 09:01 AM

If I *had* to spend it in adult...

A huge fuckin' tube site (the legal kind), doing upsells to a member area with high quality downloads.

With a $500k investment, you should be able to buy enough content and generate enough traffic to reach a decent profitability. Other business models are still more profitable right now, but for most non-niche traffic, that's going to change within the next few years as more surfers discover the tubes.

Allow uploads only from partners, and make it possible for them to sell high quality downloadable videos to your members on the system. You take a cut, of course. Partners would be pre-approved amateurs as well as programs.

Give out short free premium memberships in exchange for people sending in new free members, but cancel that program once you've reached critical mass.

If governments step in against tube sites showing everything to people without age verification (it could still happen), remove access for non-members, convert to a more conventional model.

If profitability drops, switch to a paid-only model. Costs will drop, and you'll be able to continue profiting from existing members as well as some bookmarkers who sign up.

I had no idea one wall handball had become so popular? As a kid i used to dominate the courts from morning til dusk daily. Hustled players in different neighborhoods for $$$. I would have joined a league if one had existed.

Serge,

Just keep posting entertaining threads such as this from time to tome. Save your $. Travel some more. Enjoy life as you have learned to. :winkwink:
