P.S. Just to add.

You CAN build a PC using hardware just as good as Apple does. If you take the time to get every piece of hardware's full specs. I've done it before. The price comes out to be the same as the comparable Apple computer.

To do so you need to get into mostly Intel & their server hardware. But all this information can be found very easily through Google.

ya, why not use Aperture? From what I see they have pretty much all the same features.

As far as switching to mac...I can't believe given the amount of time we spend on computers people here still think there is this huge learning curve that they can't overcome. If you know how to use a computer, chances are you will learn how to use a mac in no time. Sure there are some different programs to use but seriously it is a better computing experience and worth the time.

You need to know a substitute for a program, just search google. It really can't be much easier.

He probably wont need any 3rd party image viewing apps on a mac, OS X has plenty of features in that department...

I'm waiting for the upcoming new version of the iMac and after 14 years of non-stop struggle I will leave PCs behind - and will never look back. This thread is bookmarked, have some probably nice links. Peace.
