i really wish they would finish that one off. Even with the movies the cliff hanger ending sucks.

unrecoverable decline in ratings? i heard the last season brought aboard a new writer that really picked up the quality of the show, but it was too late i guess.

And if it wasn't for DirecTV, Friday Night Lights wouldn't have made it to a third season.

a movie could still have been made, perhaps a part one to boost interest in hopes of getting back on tv or a for making a sequel.

enterprise was the merging of two different pitched shows
a time travel show
and a prequel show
if it had been just one or the other it think it would have done really well
the last season they gave up all that time travelling/ enemy from the future/ zindi crap and made it a prequel show.
That is why that last season was so good.

Turf 02-11-2009 07:07 AM

must say that traveler being canceled bummed me out... there was room for so much more there...

More like 2 1/2 seasons, they cut back on the episodes on order so in order to complete the story the last few were VERY busy...

Another one I liked was Shark.

As for Dead Like Me, if you're a fan of the show, avoid the movie. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the worst movie I've ever seen. I suppose there is one benefit. After watching it, films you had previously only considered 'average' will seem better than ever. Dead Like Me: Life After Death.. It will lower your expectations.

It was intended to be a 5 series saga. There was talk of wrapping it up with a film, but the creator says he has too much material left and feels a movie wouldn't do it justice.

You've got to give Fox credit for how long they ran with Arrested Development. Given the numbers, it's surprising it made it past the first season. They stuck with it 'cause they thought it was something special. A movie is looking more and more likely with every passing week, though.

And if it wasn't for DirecTV, Friday Night Lights wouldn't have made it to a third season.

Those were all good shows. I thought that Journeyman would have been around a lot longer. It was a really good show. Sad that the good shows get cancelled and shit like American Idol is still around. :2 cents:

ultimatebbwdotcom 02-11-2009 12:45 PM

Arrested Development - for sure.

Hopefully they wont fuck up the movie.

Dead Like Me FTW!!!

The Movie will be on DVD NEXT TUESDAY!!!!

I was sent a screener and I was both happy and let down after watching it, I won't give away any spoilers here, it's common knowledge that Rube is not in it and they switched Daisy's, believe it or not I didn't even care too much about all that lol.

Rube was surely missed in the movie however it still worked without him imho

I DO DO DO DO DO DO believe there MAY be a 3rd season in the works... for the simple fact that this show went off the air almost 3 years ago and WHAMO now we get a movie.

Want to know what pissed me off about the movie?

Once it was over, I was reminded that it was over, no waiting a week to see more, no to be continued lol, it was over and I could have watch more and more.

I'll toss in That 80's Show. I would have like to seen developed a bit more. Not quite a continuation of That's 70 Show, but the one character apparently was Foremans cousin.

I don't even think they gave it a full season. It would probably work better now.

I don't think there was any formal announcement. I watched the CBS returning shows, cancellations and mid season replacement but it wasn't listed. I heard HBO bought the rights to it and there was some hope they would produce more episodes. But they already had Big Love in their lineup so apparently decided against it.

todhunter 02-11-2009 06:08 PM

"Sports Night." A genius show that should have gotten a better chance, but Disney greed and Robert Guillame's stroke pretty much sent it into the crapper. There was a nice story arc with one of the junior PAs hooking up with a porn star -- when somebody asked him how far things had progressed and he replied "I'm calling her by her real name" I yelled at the TV set "SONOVABITCH! SOMEBODY'S BEEN THERE!!" -- and the last few eps with network executives getting ready to cancel the show-within-a-show were inspired. William H. Macy had a monologue about Philo Farnsworth that brought tears to my eyes.

The other one that should have lasted longer was the last mainstream show I worked on. We were cancelled and we taped the last ep on July 3, 19-nevermind, adding a new and sinister meaning to the term "Independence Day."

boston legal
eli stone
dirty sexy money
and pushing daisies

were the big ones for me this year
kylie xy is getting cancelled too, but to me that not really a big deal, but it it is a bit of waste that show should not be on abc family it should be on sci fi or spacecast.

Sarah_Jayne 02-12-2009 04:59 AM

It has actually gotten to the point where I won't even start watching most drama shows until they are a few seasons in and then I will rent the DVD. I hate shows that only have a season and a bit and never rap up.

Also..another one..Jake 2.0. ..I liked it enough to actually see the show go a bit longer. It was Chuck before Chuck. Now the lead guy is playing the boyfriend in Ugly Betty.

I agree, seemed at first they were just trying to do the "wow, look how many 80's pop culture references and embarrassing outfits we can cram in" before it settled down a bit. Then again, perhaps That 70's Show started out like that? When I see the eps now it's really just another sitcom - not anything particularly 70's, apart from the fashion, but that's the background rather than focus.

I saw an ep the other day which showed [19]79 on the license plate at the end, does that mean it's the final season?

"Cupid" (1998) with Jeremy Piven was a great series. Barely lasted a season. More details here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168326/

Family Guy originally lasted only 2 seasons until it was brought back due to huge DVD sales.

My husband and I go on watching marathons like that. For example, we just finished watching the whole of the X-Files just because we missed bits when it was actually on air. It just gives us something to watch together each night. That run only took us since October. Previously we did that with Buffy as I had never really followed it.

I also do that myself with shows to that I have something to watch when doing exercise. I know I lost at least 20 of my pounds by being on the bike while I watched the whole of the Sopranos.

huda 02-12-2009 06:12 AM

Point Pleasant
Arrested Development
Aliens in America
Firefly
Freak and Geeks
The 4400 ?

And then some good series had to be fucked with by milking the bitch dry

Nip Tuck - laaame
24 - OMG there is a mole! CTUFBICSI has been compromised!
Lost - Lets all head back to the island!
Prison Break - this time lets break into another prison and try to escape again!
...

huda 02-12-2009 06:15 AM

And of course Knight Rider and MacGyver

Whatever happened to Boston Public? lol i only followed it for the first while, i think it got too dramatic and too much time spent following the parents and teachers drama and not as much of the kids, very similar with The O.C... i guess ratings dropped?
