Pajama Grams... Velour Robe and another lil nightie I thought she would like, with some rose scented bath tub doohickeys...

Then a shopping spree, followed up by a shopping spree... then dinner at home, and some drinks at our favorite bar, great valentines altogether. :thumbsup:thumbsup

Are we talking total?
My costs were fairly low I suppose.
Handmade a card (really hate spending money on them). Then dinner which consisted of a shared steak, 2 lobsters, 2 potatoes, and some creamed spinach (shared), oh tiramisu for dessert (shared). Since we buy our beef on the hoof and get it butchered it is sort of hard to breakdown a price for a steak - best guess 2 bucks. Lobsters ran 45, veggies another 8 bucks or so, then 6 on dessert. 65 bucks or so give or take a few.

I spent approx. $30 on my boyfriend's gift

If I had to estimate the amount my boyfriend spent on my gift it would come out to about $125.

I told him not to do anything excessive this year. I even picked out things I wanted and told him "look, we're not millionaires and it's more of the thought that counts...I can find cute reasonably prices items that I'll enjoy probably as much as expensive items."
I picked out a cute silver bracelet with pink Swarovski crystal for $33 on amazon and some books. He also bought me pink tulips (my favorite flower) and a bunch of chocolate and cake from a killer chocolate boutique which we both shared.

And I am perfectly satisfied. :)

Set some financial limits guys!
If your lady friend cares about you she wouldn't want you to go broke either.
I think $100-150 is more than enough, to be honest....amazon has a GREAT selection of cute, quality, and reasonably priced jewelry.

CaptainHowdy 02-15-2009 06:17 AM

20 pesos, ay ay ay!

haha.....
:)
I'm glad I amused you....
why should you spend a ton of money on one day?
I love my $125 worth of gifts! books, cute fun jewelry, books and flowers
How am I going wrong?
I'm just not breaking my boyfriend's bank account by being a gold digger.
I can enjoy a silver bracelet with Swarovski crystal as much as a platinum bracelet
you don't have to spend that much money to have a good V-day
like christmas and all of the rest of the holidays....

Admittedly I have not gone to a restaurant on VD in many years (if ever), but they have a special menu with inflated prices that they pull out once a year?

Sounds like b.s. to me.

FrozenJag 02-15-2009 12:11 PM

About 2 bills.

Dinner, Movie, Alchohol, Hotel Suite.

Fun times though, we enjoyed ourselves. :)

$400 dinner? Are you guys eating gold plated steaks? Seriously, you don't look cool spending so much money and "bragging" about it.

Admit it, either you cheated on her or she is way out of your league and you fear you'll lose her. So I guess she spent that same kind of money on you (and money she earns on her own)?

I hate restaurants on valentines. Like you said, inflated prices and they line people up like cattle in and out all night long.

Means we buy the cow as a calf, have it raised and butchered. It is through a co-op. We do both beef and pork that way for the most part.

dial 02-15-2009 03:58 PM

absolutely nothing, my wife and I decided long ago we wouldn't celebrate "fake" holidays

Sometimes you gotta treat yourself and your significant other for all the hard work....

Oysters, Grilled Shrimp, Sea Bass, Award winning CrabCake, Bottle of Champagne and some chocolate strawberries.

I was not bragging, just answered the question.

Aside from the Champagne perhaps (we mostly just do sparkling wine instead), that does not seem like no 400 dinner. Did you end up dropping like 35 or so per person per course?

VeriSexy 02-15-2009 05:08 PM

A goose egg.

noKru 02-15-2009 05:11 PM

around 15$ and few hours of my time. Everyone happy and satisfied

HookUPcom 02-15-2009 05:11 PM

VIP Tickets to the Fillmore to see Galactic: $150
Pre-Drinks: $50
Show Drinks: $100+
X to help groove and spread the love: $130
Bar after the show, more music and drinks: $70
Cab home... too fucked up: $80
Babysitter: $120
Balloons, roses, card and small gift: $100

Wow... Big night. $800... Yikes...

No, I'm not actually. Just stupid. But yes they do have inflated prices special menus that are much more limited than the rest of the year. I'm sure not every place does this but several I have been to do.

I wonder how much it actually costs the restaurant. Sounds nice though I don't care for seafood. I couldn't fathom spending that much on a meal no matter how good it was. But hey, I'm not a filthy rich "player".

fatfoo 02-15-2009 07:27 PM
