I think it's more of a question of resources, rather than bandwidth. Many hits at the same time put extra strain on processor and/or memory. The page isn't bandwidth heavy, but if it gets bombed with traffic, the site may request more processing power than it has allocated by the virtual server.

My mom just watched the local news for Lawton, OK (KSWO) and she said that the news reported that the Comanche County Sheriff's Department has caught the 2 teens but they have been released to their parents. The cat has been turned over to a veterinary clinic and will remain there until the conclusion of this. The sheriff is going to present the case to the DA to decide what charges to press.

Long live Dusty!

This kids future is destroyed. Wait till any potential job or girlfriend or anyone googles his name.

My daughter just found a letter they wrote to his school principal when they got his email too. It was classic.

Little punk. His parents have to be completely humiliated. Or they caused this sort of behavior or were aware before. Either way, Dusty is at the vet safe and sound for now.

Wow... that was so fast. I"m impressed.

WarChild 02-15-2009 11:02 PM

I'm completely against any kind of Animal cruelty of any sort, but, the Cat didn't die and is not permanently hurt so shouldn't the punishment fit the crime?

You people really want to ruin a kid's life over one stupid choice? Yes it was stupid, no there's no excuse, but still. Some of you idiots are wishing the kid is seriously hurt over this? That's digusting. What if one of your kids did something I found to be horrid? You'd be fine with me beating the shit out of your child?

Rrred, I think you'd know better than anyone that even the most concerned and invested partent can't know everything that's going on in the mind of their children.

Some of you are amazing, really.

Not permanently hurt? Dusty is scared for life and will probably never sleep peacefully again. He gave up on life as you can see from the video. He was helpless and at complete mercy of his torturer who took good advantage of it. That will have left permanent mark on his soul. Even if he moves to a caring home, each time he heard a shower, he's gonna run away scared shitless. Kenny Glenn destroyed Dusty's life Forever!

To be honest with you, I'd rather not have a kid like that enter our society. He is clearly deranged and I'd be scared to think what he could grow up to do.

In any event, he was tough when he was alone in his bathroom with a 7 pound cat, so why not show that same toughness when he's dealing with people his own size? He was the big shot who wanted to brag about it on YouTube so I see no problem with the public he was looking to impress showing what they think.

RRRED 02-15-2009 11:17 PM

Warchild, I'm not sure what you mean by that :disgust My children have never hurt animals or other people, nor have they ever been around that sort of thing in my household.

Like I said, him parents must be humiliated. I know I'd be. Or the kid may have been raised in a household where that behavior is ok. Either way, he made a huge mistake and now his name is all over the internet and he will permanently hold the label of an animal abuser.

Typically animal abusers come from bad family environments. My guess is that he is either beaten or just given no attention. Normal kids who grew up in loving households don't torture the family pet.

Yes, notifying the authorities seems like it would have been enough, no?

Do his parents need to be humilliated? Don't we as a society hold children to a lesser standard? There's no need for the punative emotion you all seem to have. You want to permanetly harm a kid that made a very stupid mistake. Where's the rehabilitation in that?

All I meant is surely you of all people must understand that children can have a whole array of things and emotions going on in their head that parents might be completely unaware of.

Remember that the kid himself sought publicity by posting the video in the first place.

Without the outrage, the local authorities wouldn't have done shit. Not to mention that animal cruelty charges are often minor and result in no punishment, especially for children.

As for his parents, that's part of being a parent. We are held to be responsible for our kids actions. Fair or not, that's the duty you take on as a parent.

And you forget that it's not like someone walked into his backyard and caught him doing this in private. This is a kid who posted the video on YouTube in an attempt to brag and show off. He is the one that thought animal cruelty was funny. When you post something online in public, don't get upset when people see it and have opinions on it.

Hey, I admit it was not only a stupid thing to do, it was VERY stupid. I am in no way defending this kid and I am glad he got caught and hope he gets punished for his stupidity.

However, the kid's been caught. His parents will surely know, along with his school and the appropriate officials. You don't think people calling for his head and making websites to immortalize his childish stupidity might be going just a little bit too far?

God forbid any of your children ever do anything wrong and end up at end of a virtual lynch mobs comprised of cowards and losers like Dark Jedi. You'll surely understand the point then.

I agree. Most kids though don't abuse a cat and film it. Then put it on YouTube. The kids that usually do shit like this are the ones that don't get the ass beating they need at home. To many parents just let their kids do what they want.

GAMEFINEST 02-15-2009 11:42 PM

Retribution...

RRRED 02-15-2009 11:47 PM

Warchild, I get what you mean now. When I said the parent should be humiliated now, I meant they should probably feel very humiliated right now. I know I'd be. I can't even imagine having to sit and think up a punishment for such a thing. I didn't mean the parents should be humiliated by others. They already are, I'm sure.

Jeffery Dahmer abused and tortured animals before he started doing it to humans. He lived with his grandmother. I forget what the situation was there. When I started reading the book years ago, my cousin borrowed it and never gave it back. But that guy was fucking psycho at a very early age. No idea if it was his environment or just some sort of major imbalance.

It pains me to think of what the kid has already done up to this point. The cat really didn't seem that surprised or freaked out. He just cowarded down and almost seemed like he was used to it. That's just my take from watching the vid though. Who knows?

I agree that the reprucussions of 4chan will far outdo what was necessary in the first place. He will never live this down.

Me and my daughter are both following this and she sees how fast this blew up. She completely understands if she ever fucks up in a major way, she had better not do it on the internet. The end result may be much more than what would normally be expected.

I found it amusing how the news station found it necessary to state that they have had more visitors to their website than ever before. Funny stuff.

When I first saw all of this, I somewhat agreed with you. But the more I think about it - no.

The kid made several videos of doing this, over a longer period of time. That's not just childish stupidity, it's taking pleasure in premeditated cruelty. A clear sign of a severely fucked up mind.

The kid belongs in a closed mental institution :2 cents:

There is a difference in stupid and mentally deranged. Stealing a pack of cigarettes as a kid is stupid. Torturing a cat and posting it on YouTube is fucking deranged. I don't see a problem with someone chastising and embarrassing someone who is deranged. Maybe this will ring a bell in his parents head to get this kid some serious mental health or do us all a favor and smother him when he's sleeping.

Maybe this will also ring a bell for other kids who have cats at home and abuse them. Maybe seeing how one kid got beat by the internet will prevent other cruelty from taking place. Laws are not strict enough to adequately punish animal abusers. Perhaps internet can humiliate the fuck out of them as retribution and inability of law enforcement to do much about it.

I wholeheartedly support whatever is coming to this kid.

Sick sick kid. I really hope he gets some help! I think everyone deserve a second chance but only after he gets therapy and lots of help and respects animals. They should make him volunteer and do tons of community service. I wonder if changing is possible. He's a really young kid. He needs to get mental help. Bad. I hope that cat never has to go back into that home.

Brujah 02-16-2009 03:10 AM
