I don't like to eat shit, no matter how long they cook it.

now read up on chicken, especially the part about pesticides they spray on them.

I am vegetarian because I refuse to eat the mass produced flesh they sell us. And I surely am not going into the wild to kill my own.

I just want to live longer, so when people rag on me I figure they'll be dead sooner than myself, and I will laugh then.

If eating meat will make you live longer, then why do you have to take suppliments to give you what the meat would have? Seems we are meant to eat it.

Eat the beef!

Ozarkz 03-11-2009 04:19 PM

I'm not worried.

Nope, I take the meat off my Big Mac just before plowing it into my face with a side of large fries and a DIET, yes DIET coke, I have to keep my figure.

ShellyCrash 03-12-2009 07:18 AM

Not just fast food joints... it's as old as the meat packing industry.

For anyone who really cares- check out "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair.

I also cook veg. I'd love to do a recipe trade some day. I've started to post some of my recipes online here and there.

I'm on healthy diet right now. No fast food please.

BradM 03-12-2009 08:43 AM

The people who responded with "OMG stuff ur face with cow lolz" have no idea, or just didn't read the book. It's hard to take people seriously when they throw random comments like that around.

I'm not expecting everyone to "get it" but it would be nice if people who read the book and still ate meat commented. Like the Mcnuggets fake nick guy.

Brad, to further your new found committment to healthier eating and helping others to understand the health issues involved, you might want to check out the book "Mad Cowboy" by Howard Lyman. I've heard this man speak on two occasions and read his book and what he has to say is mind blowing. He's the one that was on the Oprah show when she got sued by all those cattle ranchers in Texas for saying she'd never eat another hamburger.

I've been to a slaughter house, I've worked as a meat cutter and I have no problem with lean beef. Eat it every day pretty much. Not fast food though.

Mmmmmm, that soup sounds nummy!

We're mainly on chicken and fish, with local grown beef now and then. I'd like to go meatless at least a couple of nights a week, but I'm really not sure of what direction to go with that. I want to steer clear of pasta, which rule out a lot of the recipes I have found.

TyroneGoldberg 03-12-2009 10:03 AM

First off, I'm a real nick. :)

While reading the book, I thought damn, I will not eat fast food again, not just because of what's in the meat, also the way the people who process and serve the food get treated. Then, I woke up. :1orglaugh I eat fast food maybe once a week, and that's about it.

The book makes for a good read, I recommend everyone should read it.

Agreed. It took me awhile to come around to a greener/healthier way of eating, and I'm not entirely there yet. Sometimes it's hard to separate the message from the messenger. ie with all due respect to everyone, a lot of vegetarians/vegans are like Mac freaks. They are so militant about their opinion that it makes the rebel in me want to eat a raw steak and work on my PC with blood running down my chin. :winkwink:
