I think its funny how the adult webmaster doctrine is that all republicans are bible thumping jimmy swaggert types, and democrats are porn webmaster friendly.

The two scariest words to that theory and the topic that no adult webmaster will touch......... Tipper Gore

I was glad to see Bush last week move away from the bible thumpers. If it wasn't for the religous right that came with the GOP I'd be a solid republican. The truth of the matter is that porn is a target of all politicians.

Bill Clinton signed COPA. If you think republicans will try to take away your business and democrats won't you're an idiot who obviously hasn't been paying attention.

But your sphere of friends / business associates do not reflect the average American voter (i.e. not technologically astute business owners)

You see, as long as your vote reflects an informed choice....it matters. Unfortunately, the media has distorted EVERYTHING beyond belief BETRAYING the fundamental right to make an informed political choice. SO whether you vote DEMS or REPUBS it really doesnt matter because for the average voter, the process that has let them to make their decision is flawed.

And as to your other point, Canadians DO KNOW a lot about America. Because we are an educated and informed bunch of people...You should be SO LUCKY to have had an education where you concentrated on a global view rather then from a traditional AMERICAN isolationalist view. I've met thousands of Americans in my life...and many of them have this response of "duh...why should we learn about Canada"...and then they usually make some joke. Well, in fact, the joke is on them because such an OVERT expression of ignorance is not something to be proud of.

And another thing....I'll put up my knowledge of American politics/geography/history/newsmedia against 90% of people on this board and come out on top. Why? Because like most educated Canadians, we have learned to respect and learn about all countries and cultures, not just our own.

America is a great place filled with awesome, friendly individuals who are interesting and diverse and respect others.....but the War on Terror threatens to destroy the individual goodwill that 99.9% of you have.

In my daily travels and exposures with Americans and Canadians, there happens to be a new AND destructive concept emerging. Many non-Americans are starting to hate American People RATHER then the government that represents them. Anger and Hate are fundamentally wrong...yet for some reason you have an administration that seeks to propogate this to new and dangerous levels....

Oh I forgot....the incarceration and security industry profit from this....

When it comes down to it... peace is what people want (I edited this to add something else people want...FREE PORN). Not stress caused by war and fighting and guns. Why do people consistently argue against peace?

$$$$$$$ perhaps?

LiveDose 11-21-2002 03:47 PM

Everyone always hates the police until they are saving your ass. There is a price to pay when living in a democratic society/world and now we are learning that part of that price may be some of our "PERCEIVED" privacy. The only thing truly free in this world with no strings attached is TGP porn!

Keep bashing America, Republicans whatever it is that makes you feel better about yourself or your country. Someone's gotta take care of business...

Oh well, you fuckers should have looked at the big picture before putting the Reagan v2.0 puppets back into office. :321GFY

Ludey, there are provisions in there that go too far and you know what? if the democrats were reasonable instead of being communists in sheep's clothing, I'd vote for them. But that's not the case.
So instead of a choice at the polls, I'll count on the republican judges (who are FAR more likely to protect the constitution than the dems) to protect me and my rights.

Scootermuze 11-21-2002 04:07 PM

Nothing new really... They've been red flagging certain words in email and chat/forum areas for quite awhile..
They've always had access to records of cc purchases when they wanted it. as well as any other records they wanted. Privacy is nonexistent nowadays..
Lots of privacy being invaded now and nobody knows it.
They may not be able to use it as evidence, but they can use it to see if they need to watch someone closer so they can get legally obtained evidence that they -can- use.

Forget about privacy in this country.. We no longer have it..

But like I said, if you are going to do this then do is secretcly, it would be like announcing that you are tapping a phone and then expecting the person to talk about his criminal activities...

A system like this would NOT have prevented 9/11. We DO KNOW what the terrorists bought. Box cutters. How soon you forget.

No Bobo...you're wrong here. Mr Clicks is right in saying that the last line of defense for personal freedoms in this country is, believe it or not, the conservative libertarian Supreme Court. The issue, in my eyes, is that it should never have come to this mad power grab by these lunatics. I consider myself to be and am registered as a Republican but when it comes down to being associated with these bible-thumping megalomaniacs who want a camera in every home then I have to reconsider if they best choice has been made.

Statements like "I always vote Republican" are where Mr Clicks' views differ from my own. It makes me question whether his intelligence is faltering or if he just follows the herd.

Hmmm. Passionate debate. Who is the greater defender of freedom in America, Democrats or Republicans? Neither? Or the reverse question, who tends to trample on individual rights more?

I think it is helpful to distinguish between "freedom" and "sexual freedom" here. There are some libertarian Republicans who can be described as defenders of freedom, but they fall down when it comes to sexual freedom.

America is the only country in the world that has obsenity laws like it does. In practice they have become circular definitions; "it's obscene if a jury finds it obscene". Other countries have embraced the principle that "the state has no business in the bedrooms of it's citizens" unless someone is being hurt or exploited - America has no such principle, in writing, in practice, or in theory. This is because when it comes to sexuality America "goes funny". The most ardent American freedom-lover is often a closetted censor.

This guy is a Republican:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ws/taylor.html

And he would throw every single one of us in jail for 50+ years if he could. And there are a 500 prosecutors just like him in local and federal jurisdictions all across America - probably 80% of the most zealous 100 are Republicans.

These guys don't just want to prosecute for the most extreme stuff; these guys want to prosecute everything! Vaginal penetrations, erections, pussy shots, masturbation, ejaculation, 18 to 22 - everything!!

So clearly, IMHO, when it comes to the defense of freedom in the bedroom or home office, the Republicans are the far worse of two great evils. Republicans are extremely weak on sexual freedom - I would say "Talibanish".

If you need to keep awake tonight just read that interview, it will send shivers down your spine. 2003 will be the start of the porn wars, and like abortion I think ultimately the Supreme Court will have to decide - and I have no faith in them on issues of sexuality. They don't know what obscenity is, they just know it when they see it.

having lived under the thumb of liberals for 20 yrs, I understand why they are wrong.
As long as they are wrong, I'll vote the other way.
Any other vote is wasted.

Nysus 11-21-2002 06:00 PM

I think it is a stupid idea, simply because if people really want to be terrorists, they won't use their own credit cards, or will have fake identification and other such things... It's more so to track the people... Hell... maybe you won't have to keep receipts anymore to return things to stores... Good way for tax guys to keep track of everyone too..

Cheers,
Matt

"REPUBLICANS JUST KILLED YOUR BUSINESS"

News Flash: at least until the next election, the democrats are running the show in U.S., so why wasn't the headline, "DEMOCRATS JUST KILLED YOUR BUSINESS"?

VenusBlogger 04-19-2012 09:12 AM

I wonder if FARMERS are getting a hard time when they buy a big amount of FERTILIZERS.

ajrocks 04-19-2012 09:14 AM

I am so happy I do not live in the US. What a police state you guys live in. Terrorists this and that. Your government are the real terrorists. Bush scared the American people into war and since then all your freedom has been removed in the name of keeping you safe.

Hey, if you have nothing to hide, just submit to the cavity search and there's no problems. Then you can be on your way, freedom boy.

Anyone ever felt they were being treated kind of like that?

I havent. But then again, I dont really get out much.
