Itchy the killer LOL
actually it's "Ichi the killer" |
BTW
Ichi The Killer Audition Imprint are all directed by Takashi Miike, a pretty twisted individual but a HELL of a film maker, Tarantino WISHES he could be this good. |
Les Triplettes de Belleville
Human Traffic Noise - The Australian 2007 film, not the other one. -N |

I'm disappointed so far, this thread doesn't deliver. Let's try to save it.
They Call Her One Eye - Christina Lindberg CLASSIC Lady Snowblood - One of my favorite flicks, and obviously one of Tarintino's (see: kill bill) Taxidermia - Newer Hungarian flick, CRAZIEST shit you've ever seen. Amon Tobin OST. Happiness - Todd Solondz's best film. For the fucked-up at heart. Lone Wolf And Cub - Famous in Japan, overlooked by YOU. Paprika - One of my favorite anime movies. Amazing art and music. Battle Royale - Class of kids on an island and must kill eachother. See it if you haven't. El Topo: Insane psychedelic western stuff Machine Girl - Crazy japanese comedy blood splatter fest. Tempura and machine guns as arms on hot chicks. I'll keep going if you want? |
Oldboy - best film in the "vengeance trilogy", but the other two are decent too.
City of God - brazilian gang movie Ninth Configuration (also called "twinkle, twinkle, killer kane") Double Indemnity - b/w but just so perfect, don't let that throw you off Holy Mountain, El Topo, Santa Sangre - all Jodorowsky movies, trippy, memorable, surreal Unbearable Lightness of Being - chick flick but stunningly moving Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, Wild Bunch, most any Peckinpah movie Naked Prey |

Zatoichi, the blind swordsman - the remake and all the original ones in the series Walker Chuck and Buck Devil's Backbone Fat Girl |

I definitely agree with those who have said Suicide Kings. I really, really enjoy watching that movie. The dark humor in it is perfect, IMO.
I have to add, The Virgin Suicides. Its really not a chick flick and its dark and well...maybe a bit depressing, which makes it great. Its directed by Sophia Coppola. https://youtube.com/watch?v=uZ6cvgIGfH4 |

District B13 is Banlieue 13 - there's a new one that's just come out too. Another decent semi arthouse is 'Clean' with Maggie Cheung One of, if not my most favourite films is 'Youth without Youth' - truly a masterpiece this film |
some more...
fellini's "Satyricon" Musa Black Robe Mongol |
I can't believe no one has mentioned this gem:
Kids (1995) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113540/ It's all about Telly and Caspar. This was the gorgeous Rosario Dawson's first movie. She was sitting on her front stoop and was asked if she wanted to be in a movie. The rest is history. |
check out the Dreamers, pretty good

Old Boy was a great Korean movie. There are a bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head. Their police/drama flicks are intense. |

Ichi the killer for sure, along with Audition....basically take any of the Hollywood PG-13 "scary" movies (ie: The Ring) and see the Japanese original....believe me, so much better..they are not "softened" because they are trying to get teenagers to go see it...(not like teenagers wont see any rated r movie that they want)...Hollywood still cant make a movie that will freak me out...
Dirty Love & Eraserhead of course can be added along to Brazil as being over looked....yes i said Dirty Love with Jenny McCarthy.....was truely a surprise rental that had me laughin my ass off....http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327643/ oh and cannot forget FEED!!! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445965/ |
Old Boy
Man Bites Dog Necromantic |
This one still gives me the willies even though I saw it years ago - regarded as a twisted classic treatise on fascism:

I just finished watching it, it was like an hour and a half of pure WTF? Which ends in one massive WTF. At first I felt totally screwed out of an hour and a half of my life, but the movie just leaves you with so many god damn questions floating around in your head I just can't hate on it. I mean, I understand what was happening, but not really. It leaves everything open. Great movie for people who like really weird flicks for sure. |
Wristcutters: A Love Story - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477139/
Pretty cool wacky movie. "A film set in a strange afterlife way station that has been reserved for people who have committed suicide." |

It's a little out there, but nowhere nearly as much as one One point O. I've never had a film intrigue me as much as primer. Let's talk about it more when you've seen it ;) |
Like Water For Chocolate - a love story with a twist (foreign)
Great American Summer - a cult classic with a GROOVY soundtrack The Last Emperor - an epic and amazing tale that is a true story about the end of the Chinese monarchy |
