With 90% or so believing in a God of some sort, 70% believing in a Devil seems right to me.

imagine you're an organic cell in human body with little mind (consciousness) on your own (at least you generate your own electromagnetic field that interacts with other cells), you live your life, do your thing, divide, die off, divide again, etc... - would you ever know you're a part of human body capable of many things beyond your scope of functionality? :)

concepts of God are primitive and made that way for primitive minds - which is not bad, imagine level of crimes we might have on the streets w/o so much religious influence over those minds or maybe we would be far more advanced, who knows.
we might as well be micro parts of something bigger and being inside of it we'll never see externally whole picture. we'll never know beyond our reach of understanding and experience of our existence. sober scientific approach without bigotry with get us far.

You should see some of the discussions on certain mainstream boards I am on. Its a 180 from this place for sure. Seems most of them are bible thumpers who think the idea of god, jesus, heaven and hell are the only logical conclusion anyone could come to. Just blows my mind how many people are so into it in this day and age.

Well, Satan was once Gods favorite and the sin he made was Pride. Having pride in himself, in his favor from God over others. Thought he was too good to be with the others anymore. So he was cast down for being a prideful arrogant jerk and not appreciating things properly.

Some people are looking down other's peoples beliefs, because they maybe think, if something non existent for them, Everybody should follow what they think.

From day one religion was and still is about getting people to do as they are told to and making them pay for the privilege of being controlled. They need a figure to scare people into doing as they are told to.

Most of the people, through out the millenniums, who control religion have used it to do evil things. From telling people in Africa condoms do not protect against AIDS, covering up child abuse, you're getting 30 virgins if you blow yourself up while killing others. And those others can be women and children worshiping the same God and Savior as you. And as far back as telling people to go kill the people in this land, because God has given it you. And he said kill them all.

I want nothing to do with any religion that preaches those things.

I went to Catholic school, was raised by Catholics, went to mass/church twice a week my entire childhood, educated by nuns and private school teachers.

i was atheist before I left 9th grade lol and i dont believe in Buddha either.
