Your thoughts on this interesting discussion I have been engaging in recently.... In 2009 to make a decent return, or money, in adult online you need the following.

1. Superior Content.
2. Superior Traffic.
3. Niche.
4. Diversity.
5. Luck.

:helpme

I believe that 1. Superior Content will bring traffic and the combination of 3, 4, and 5 will bring superior traffic. All of them are interconnected and finding the right balance will help companies achieve the success we are all looking for. In my post of Recession and Startups I spoke about customer service, but really what it was about is providing extra value. Burger King is a perfect example of what I was talking about. Right now they are "giving away" (read selling) a Star Trek glass when you make a purchase. This is a marketing technique that feeds off of the popularity of something else and helps to drive traffic. For instance if Barefootsies' site were to offer a DVD or even a collection at a reduced price when someone signs up then he will be giving something tangible that the customer can have along with the intangible service of watching movies on his site. It would even work visa versa if someone were to spend X dollars on his site on DVDs and gave away a "free 3 day trial membership" so they have something to entertain them while they are waiting for shipping along with that purchase, he might be able to convert a couple that way as well. When people are pinching pennies they become more of a value shopper than they have been in a while. Finally, keeping the people that have already been paying is truly paramount as you know that they do spend the money, so they will want to see the same thing you give to the new people or they are going to want preferential treatment. Allowing your return customers or your faithful the opportunity to watch a new title even one week before the noobs get too, will pay out dividends when it comes time to renew their subscription.:2 cents:

Sad part is, that is exactly what is killing the industry, people are chasing traffic instead of loyal customers, sales, etc... everyone looks up to the tube sites, and tries to copy them, but it will all collapse one day, when all this "traffic" won't buy memberships anymore... :2 cents:

deliver content with new appeal, up to date offers.

Social ways to interact with surfers, newletter, forum, blog comments.

Anything that can get surfers to stay, like webcam girl 24/7.

Get the idea?

Stand out of the plain jane stale boring marketing. :warning

I've already said too much. :winkwink:

I think you misinterpreted what I was trying to say (not hard since I just typed a single word five times)... There is more to traffic then tube sites... And where do you think those loyal customers and sales come from? To me the word "traffic" means the flow of new potential customers to your product...

Just my 2 :2 cents:

Claire it's better to not post anything and have people think you might have something to offer versus posting stupid thoughts to people who understand how this biz works and have them see you haven't a clue.

It's really for the best.
