While getting inked and pierced is, to me, some what addicting... there is also something to be said for restraint. If you still want it in a few months, go further. If you can't make up your mind, or still need other people's ideas to help flesh it out - I'd guess it may be a bit early yet.

It doesn't hurt, in the meantime to do some research on tattoo communities, get referrals and check out some people's work. Your artist should be able to to help with details. Find someone you click with too and won't mind sitting in a room with for a few hours:)

I think a tattoo can be really awesome, but YES I do agree too that some tattoos are too stupid. I am not sure what I am going to do. Hopefully by the time I am done with my 500 fake tattoos I'll have something figured out.

Maybe getting 500 temp tattoos isn't such a bad idea. Using them up will feel like you have a permanent tattoo but when you get to #500 you still have the option to change your mind :winkwink:

Lots of great feedback in this thread and I thinks that's what you were looking for. Looks like it's love them or hate them and not too much in between.

I have one last question to ask yourself. If you didn't get one, would you really regret it in the long run?

Nice looking tat,go for it

raven1083 05-11-2009 04:26 PM

no idea since I don't have any tattoo. Keep us posted when you get a tattoo

Ha ha yes excellent question, I am not sure there comes a certain point I feel like it would be too late to get one, at least for me. I don't want to be 40 and still considering this. I think If I am going to do it I am going to do this year. If I don't do it this year I probably never will do it.

I think I could regret not getting one. I feel It would be in a place easy to hide If I wanted to look professional, or anything and no one would ever know it is there except people I allow to see it.

But yeah really great feedback thank you everyone! seems to passion both ways! which is always awesome. If I get it done I'll be sure to post it on GFY... :winkwink:

The best tattooist have a 1 year waiting list and cost $200 -$500 an hour. But it's well worth it if you think about how long it will be on your body. I would do some heavy research about the scene where ever you live and find someone who specializes in the Japanese style.

The hip will be very painful i would imagine

Typically it's "the story" that is the most annoying thing about tattoos. Everyone has some story and they are just dieing to tell everyone else all about it. Please don't. Some tattoos look good but the majority of people who are just being trendy will certainly regret it later. :upsidedow

XPays 05-11-2009 04:39 PM

go for it

Cyber Fucker 05-11-2009 05:20 PM

I prefer chicks without tattoos :2 cents:

burntfilm 05-11-2009 05:35 PM

Get it if you dig it. Why cares who does or doesn't like it and why. Life's just too short.
... Of course it's also up to you whether or not you care, and since you posted asking about it, I vote yes.:thumbsup

Why do you have to permanently mark your body with a tattoo for something to have a special meaning? Is it done as a reminder or does the permanence make it more of a commitment. For me it's hard to understand because all of that I can do in my head without having to get a permanent post-it note :)

I don't know if its something I can explain. Being serious about getting tattooed is just something that you feel is right for you. I don't agree with people getting "fad" tattoos or getting them because all their friends are. My tattoos are deeply personal to me in their meaning but its not only that. I have beautiful artwork on me that I love. My best friend is my tattoo artist and I am in awe of her talent and feel honored to have her artwork on me. Its not something that you can make someone understand.

Some of the artwork I have on my is literal, like my parents memorial tattoos and my kids names and others are more representational of aspects of myself and my life.

YHR,

Just say no. Then thank me for my time.
:2 cents:

I say go for it. Who cares what others think. All of my ink represents a person or time in my life that never should be forgotten. Some good times others really bad, but everyday I am reminded of the significance each part of my life.

Some people do not agree with tattooing for whatever reason but as long at it is well thought out you will not regret it. The hip will hurt but not as bad as you think. After the first few minutes it will be numb anyway. Go for it, enjoy it, and then think about your next because they are addicting!

Ive hooked up with TONs of women with tats over the years, thay can be sexy as hell.

That being said....

the woman I married and have kids with does not have any, dosnt want any, nor would I let her get any.

great on a hook up, not on a wife. My opinion only

Darkland 05-12-2009 09:33 AM

I know that the OP asked for opinions but to come in here and have the nerve to condemn a persons choices through your own world view is idiotic. You certainly wouldn't appreciate it if it came to your personal choices in life coming into question.

Not one single persons opinion on what another wants to do to their own body even adds up to :2 cents:.

Do what you want when you want... If you aren't hurting anyone else then what does it matter what ANYONE thinks but YOU. They are not the ones who wake up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror and decide your worth or the quality of your actions.

We only have a short time on this planet and you should be doing all the things YOU want to do, not what others think you should do.

If you live your life based on the opinions or advise of others you aren't living your life, your living theirs. Not one single person lives in the same reality as you so why would you let them alter it.

Do what you want and if you run into haters tell them to fuck off and never pay them any heed. There is no shortage of people willing to tell you how to lead your life and the best thing to do is ignore them. Make your own choices, do what makes YOU happy.

They don't NEED to understand why people get tattoos. They NEED to understand that others don't revolve around "their" ideal of the world.

UFGators2007 05-12-2009 10:14 AM

Depends on the chick, the tat, and the placement.
