First I doubt many current hookers are paying taxes already and would not put it past them to also be collecting social services and low income benefits.

Second as a consumer I am sure they would pass on whatever taxes they would be paying onto their clientele. So yes in some ways people would be paying a bit more though technically you are not paying higher taxes and in theory would be paying less tax since their business would be legitimate and they would no longer be able to use up social services.

I really do think your using the assumption there would be some sort of fuck tax or something applied to each service like sales tax. Typically such taxes do not get applied to services. Most taxing would be done via licensing and general income.

The website gets like 50 billion hits a month, and one bad thing happens...and they pressure them to change the way they run their biz. People get murdered everywhere in the world...so this was more about the selling of sex. This can be the start of more future censorship, wikopedia had to remove photos and make sketches of their adult material.

I think they gave in due to Ebay owning a percentage of the CL and Ebay is a public traded company.

Doubt it has much if anything to do with the ebay connection. They have been butting heads for awhile and it seems pretty clear that CL does not like the ebay connection at all anyways. Hell ebay sued them at one point after being the shareholder.

Craigslist has been taking a lot of flack even before the killing. People just love to bring up the erotic services section. Then if you think about how many people they get to the site in general, you know damn well a large chunk would be offended by it and start bitching - even though they could just ignore it and not visit that section of the site.
