Real Player

and then there's Real Player.

It wouldn't be so bad if it just wasn't so desperate for your attention. Every move you make, its crying out, "hey look at me!"

wow... the noobishness in this thread is amazing... "virus scanners" <-- are you for real?

Matt 26z 05-19-2009 06:28 AM

Most AV programs, which have turned into total bloatware as a result of needing to release something new every year because consumers are too noob to realize that useful AV software features hit a wall about ten years ago.

Adobe Reader. Uninstall it. Use FoxIt to read .pdf instead.

AOL, which used to be a fine all-in-one program back in the day. Wow. They fucked that up.

RealPlayer.

WindowBlinds. It's interesting for about an hour.

Pinnacle USB TV tuner software. If you have the tuner, you need the software... but the software is such a joke that I don't recommend buying the tuner at all. It is seriously the worse software on my system.

... and I would LOVE to uninstall Flash since it went down the toilet after Adobe bought Macromedia. Flash is responsible for just about all of my browser crashes be it IE, FF or Chrome.

of course. a good personal firewall (like outpost) is all you need.... oh and a brain. 99.9% of all virus infections are caused by the user.

Bingo! Every time I get a call from friends/family to remove spyware or a virus, they have a big name virus scanner like Norton, etc running that has failed to prevent the problem. I haven't used a virus scanner for a few years and not a single issue on my machines.
