Congrats John,
I know you guys have been working hard on this one and I have been looking forward to it.:thumbsup |

You should move me out to TMM's location, hire me to play with your kitty cat all day long, and drive your lambo, and we'll be good. :thumbsup |

On a serious note we have paid relocation costs in the past, feel free to shoot a resume over to albright/toomuchmedia/com if you might be interested :) |

Like the script, don't like the pricing.

Congrats on the new software and good luck! :)
|
John,
You know I'm interested and this falls right into a project I'm working on. Please put me in your list of paying beta testers. :) |

Any estimate as to when it can be purchased?
|
Would also be nice to have it be able to rip galleries and unite the videos into a seamless experience... I believe nubiles tube script does this...
So if a gallery has 4 vids in it the nubiles script will show you one pic with the mouse over animation... Then when you go to the videos page it shows all four clips... But if you click #1 it will skip to #2 immediately after playing... and so on... Turns 4 - 0:1:20 videos into 5 minutes 20 seconds.. Something the surfer might actually click on... Once they see 2 minutes or 1:20 they quickly find another tube site with 20 minutes... |
I looked at the demo (I know it's basic demo).
Just a question or two (btw this movie is not loading for me) http://www.dailyvids.com/video.php?video_id=1657 Can I have an image on the movie instead of the blank pre-roll.... Can I put a link in the description of the movie? (to sponsor off course) Can I put my own player in or am I stuck with the default one or do you have others available? Can I change the size of the thumbs on the main page and the layout should I not want the current setup on the demo? I like to tinker with things such as the player page and so forth can I make changes myself or is the player page zen encoded? The register page is pretty basic can I add or do you plan on adding things to it such as capthcha? it would be nice to be able to add your own fields. also the layout is messed up (top header) In IE7..... Thanks:) |

You would have to pay per month $15 for 7 years to make it to $1500 Very reasonable. |

nice stuff as usual :) I sent you a msg on ICQ :)

The leasing part is a big turn-off, plus it looks like a very basic script (from the url you posted).
|
btw, John, besides the link structure, my suggestion would be to work it all out as divs instead of tables, I think the day a tube site uses divs instead of tables it will make a killing since you can do almost anything in terms of layout with exactly the same source code. If not possible, at least it would be a nice idea to give IDs to the tables/rows/cells/whatever to improve manageability, the sample at Dailyvids is nice but not only uses tables, but the styles are like .style1 .style2 .style3 .... .styleN which is the most anti-intuitive thing that can be done.
Just a suggestion, of course. To me, customization and the ability to make changes on the fly are the most important part in a(n already working) script and so far I can see most scripts fail at it. The first one to achieve it will have a competitive advantage over all other scripts IMHO PS: I love the price structure :) |

/me end support for John |
How many DB calls per page construct? If it's anywhere near Carma..

Welcome to the tube market John. The more choices webmasters have the better. :thumbsup

PS: John knows I'm one of his biggest supporters, hence the suggestions :winkwink: PS2: As a designer, I only need to know how to design, not how to code. In my case, I've my above average share of coding knowledge (at least for a designer) and I've a coder of my own, but 99% of designers don't know how to code and they aren't supposed to either. So, in this business, most clients will want everything: the design and the code, and they'll need 2 different people to do that. So, any script having it all without tables (or at least with ID'ed tables) will save the client time and money, hence the script will be bought by more people :2 cents: |
Sweet, John! I just icq'ed you.
|
Does admin area include fields for each upload that we can add banner, link, make vid clickable, etc..
What's the installation charge.. Assuming it may need other things to work, can you install those as well? |

Not much for innovation-
looks archaic- Stick to affiliate content management. |
I hate recurring payments for stuff like this. Is there any non-recurring buyout price?
|
A recurring charge to use a PHP script? Pretty funny. That might fly with NATS but this pricing scheme won't work for a tube script.

A good or bad thing for the business? |

Monthly fee's sucks IMO. Charge whatever the script is worth instead.
Mechbunny's $1500 for unlimited usage is clearly a great alternative if you plan for more than just one tube. Besides you can pay to have it personal customized which is a huge plus. JMB Soft TubeX - $120 ($80 while still in beta) also a good alternative to a monthly fee if you are new and low on money. A little comparison. Mechbunny First year: $1500 Per year: $0 (unlimited domains/servers) 3 Tubes TubeX First year: $360 ($240 if bought while in beta) Per year: $0 TEVS First year: $245 ($320 if you want link removed) Per year:$0 Tube Studio First year: $635 Per year: $540 5 Tubes TubeX First year: $600 ($400 if bought while in beta) Per year: $0 TEVS First year: $365 ($490 if you want link removed) Per year:$0 Tube Studio First year: $995 Per year: $900 10 Tubes TubeX First year: $1200 ($800 if bought while in beta) Per year: $0 TEVS First year: $665 ($915 if you want link removed) Per year:$0 Mechbunny First year: $1500 Per year: $0 Tube Studio First year: $1895 Per year: $1800 40 Tubes TubeX First year: $4800 ($3200 if bought while in beta) Per year: $0 TEVS First year: $2465 ($3465 if you want link removed) Per year:$0 Mechbunny First year: $1500 Per year: $0 Tube Studio First year: $7295 Per year: $7200 Haven't tried any of the scripts so can't compare features, but unless Tube Studio is way superior to the other scripts I can't see any reason to pay that amount for a lease. Rumors say Smart Tube Pro is the most advanced tube script on market, so if you are serious about starting in the tube business and focus on a single tube $500 isn't a bad alternative compared to same cost of a 2 years of Tube Studio lease. |
The gentleman in my avatar suggests that you wait until certain domains gain popularity and increase their license fee by how much you estimate they are making, find some excuse like their higher traffic requires addons that cost extra, if they don't pay shut their license down but if they are making money they will pay.

Looks great, congrats

So 3 copies of TEVS = $125? |
Sorry, I thought that said 1 copy. My mistake.
First copy is $125, extra licenses are $60 each. But if over 10 we can do a better deal. :) So 3 copies = $180 |
congrats on the new script TMM, i'm sure it is good.. it's gonna be interesting to see who will come out on top, our new script is rolling out as well.. exciting times ahead.. :thumbsup

Again, with software it comes down to support. Enjoy the support someone selling you a $40 software will give you. Or how much someone will care about you in 2 years after selling you a one time license you can do whatever you wish with.
Monthly fees for softare are like all things in this business, some love it, some hate it. |
Its also cute how you have some people complaining we can't make enough money from it and it will have a negative effect on us, and you have others complaining we're charging too much compared to similar products. At the very least, this place is always entertaining.

That movie is loading fine for me. Are you getting an error or no flash or it won't click play or? Yes, you could do still previews without the mouse overs. Yes, you could do full HTML descriptions if you'd like. The one that is included is very flexible. Its not ours, its something we licensed for the software. It is highly configurable and you may find it can do what you wish. If it doesn't for some reason you could change players easily at the template level. Yes, you can have any size thumbs you wish. All of the visuals are in smarty based templates. You have full control over them and can tinker yourself to death. At the moment I don't believe there is much flexibility to add new fields, but if there isn't it would be very easy to change. I may be wrong and it may be doable at this point and Dan just simply set it up very basic on the testing site. Thanks for the heads up on IE7. That is all template based and during testing very little attention was payed to the visual aspects (as you can tell from the text fonts/size/alignments, etc.) since it is a test site. This is I'm sure part of that and I'll try to have someone take a look at it. |
pricing sucks :) .. anyways congrats on the upcoming launch
