Does admin area include fields for each upload that we can add banner, link, make vid clickable, etc..

What's the installation charge.. Assuming it may need other things to work, can you install those as well?

It's not a server license, it's unlimited domain and open sources. You can use it on as many servers as you like as long as you don't resell it

Not much for innovation-

looks archaic-

Stick to affiliate content management.

JamesK 06-23-2009 01:08 AM

I hate recurring payments for stuff like this. Is there any non-recurring buyout price?

Babaganoosh 06-23-2009 01:12 AM

A recurring charge to use a PHP script? Pretty funny. That might fly with NATS but this pricing scheme won't work for a tube script.

Here's my take on it.

Some people might not have the cash flow to startup a tube network with 300$+ licence fees for other scripts.

At 15$ a month, you're pretty much scratching the tube script from your startup fees and can use the money you save to invest into either traffic, promo or whatever. If after a couple of months you're tube isn't generating 15$/month to pay for the script, I think you should look at a new line of work.

Thats my 2 cents. 15$/month is cheap

The cheaper a product is the more it HAS to sell. The more who buy, the more feeding from the same trough and the less profit for all.

A good or bad thing for the business?

Have you looked at your own site? Archaic? Damn.

Monthly fee's sucks IMO. Charge whatever the script is worth instead.

Mechbunny's $1500 for unlimited usage is clearly a great alternative if you plan for more than just one tube. Besides you can pay to have it personal customized which is a huge plus.

JMB Soft TubeX - $120 ($80 while still in beta) also a good alternative to a monthly fee if you are new and low on money.

A little comparison.

Haven't tried any of the scripts so can't compare features, but unless Tube Studio is way superior to the other scripts I can't see any reason to pay that amount for a lease.

Rumors say Smart Tube Pro is the most advanced tube script on market, so if you are serious about starting in the tube business and focus on a single tube $500 isn't a bad alternative compared to same cost of a 2 years of Tube Studio lease.

The Judge 06-23-2009 05:59 AM

The gentleman in my avatar suggests that you wait until certain domains gain popularity and increase their license fee by how much you estimate they are making, find some excuse like their higher traffic requires addons that cost extra, if they don't pay shut their license down but if they are making money they will pay.

So 3 copies of TEVS = $125?

Zorgman 06-23-2009 07:50 AM

Sorry, I thought that said 1 copy. My mistake.

First copy is $125, extra licenses are $60 each. But if over 10 we can do a better deal. :)

So 3 copies = $180

Godsmack 06-23-2009 08:06 AM

congrats on the new script TMM, i'm sure it is good.. it's gonna be interesting to see who will come out on top, our new script is rolling out as well.. exciting times ahead.. :thumbsup

TMM_John 06-23-2009 08:28 AM

Again, with software it comes down to support. Enjoy the support someone selling you a $40 software will give you. Or how much someone will care about you in 2 years after selling you a one time license you can do whatever you wish with.

Monthly fees for softare are like all things in this business, some love it, some hate it.

TMM_John 06-23-2009 08:31 AM

Its also cute how you have some people complaining we can't make enough money from it and it will have a negative effect on us, and you have others complaining we're charging too much compared to similar products. At the very least, this place is always entertaining.

I looked at the demo (I know it's basic demo).

Just a question or two (btw this movie is not loading for me) http://www.dailyvids.com/video.php?video_id=1657

Can I have an image on the movie instead of the blank pre-roll....

Can I put a link in the description of the movie? (to sponsor off course)

Can I put my own player in or am I stuck with the default one or do you have others available?

Can I change the size of the thumbs on the main page and the layout should I not want the current setup on the demo?

I like to tinker with things such as the player page and so forth can I make changes myself or is the player page zen encoded?

The register page is pretty basic can I add or do you plan on adding things to it such as capthcha? it would be nice to be able to add your own fields.

also the layout is messed up (top header) In IE7.....

Thanks:)

Sorry, missed it as the thread went over night for me.

That movie is loading fine for me. Are you getting an error or no flash or it won't click play or?

Yes, you could do still previews without the mouse overs.

Yes, you could do full HTML descriptions if you'd like.

The one that is included is very flexible. Its not ours, its something we licensed for the software. It is highly configurable and you may find it can do what you wish. If it doesn't for some reason you could change players easily at the template level.

Yes, you can have any size thumbs you wish.

All of the visuals are in smarty based templates. You have full control over them and can tinker yourself to death.

At the moment I don't believe there is much flexibility to add new fields, but if there isn't it would be very easy to change. I may be wrong and it may be doable at this point and Dan just simply set it up very basic on the testing site.

Thanks for the heads up on IE7. That is all template based and during testing very little attention was payed to the visual aspects (as you can tell from the text fonts/size/alignments, etc.) since it is a test site. This is I'm sure part of that and I'll try to have someone take a look at it.

exactly.. Not to mention the target appears to be general webmasters of which 90% of them will take a free script over anything else regardless of features. I mean hell I have shit loads of paid scripts and I still use free ones when I can.

I can't think of a single script that was aimed at general webmasters that uses a "lease" option and is or was successful. Webmasters don't want to pay a bill every month to use a script. They aren't the same and don't have the same mentality as program owners. Not to mention new tube scripts are popping up everywhere these days.

Not trying to bash the script or TMM, but facts are facts. General webmasters are not the right target group for a leased script.

You would have to pay per month $15 for 7 years to make it to $1500

Very reasonable.

Mechbunny isn't a fair comparison, $1500 is by far the high end of the tube script scene. Tmm's is $275 first year and $180/yr after that. There are some sub $300 scripts that appear to do everything initially offered with this one. I've just never liked having to pay a recurring charge for a script. I'd rather pay an upfront amount and get it over with. I think the monthly should be an option for those that may want to start on a shoestring budget and they should have a separate one time fee per domain option.

You can make the comparison in price as long as you make a fair comparison on features.

Mechbunny's script is unencoded, and you own it completely. You can change it or customize it in any way you see fit.
You can pay K0nrad to do this for you, or, if he disappears off the face of the earth (which has happened with developers, coders, hosts, and just about every other type of person in this business) you're not left high and dry. You can just hire a new php coder and move on with your life and not have to change backends.
It's also built to scale very easily in a load balanced or cloud/cluster type of hosting environment.

Basically, if you want to build a real, and large, tube site, you want the Mechbunny script.

If you want to build dozens of circle jerk/mgps that look like tube sites, then the Mechbunny script isn't the one you want.
