Awesome. Fast playing is an amazing technical feat, but you need to do more than just that. I've played these 2 clips several times over now, pity the sound isn't better. :)

Chris Immpeliteri should be probably mentioned here. Yngwie Malmsteen also. Bouth play songs, not just random speeding. I like speed on guitar but not if it isjust shreding through scales. if you practice 10h a day practice your imagination as well not just your fingers.

The amp is a Peavy Joe Satriani signature JSX. Its the one on the right. Sounds great, but I was really blown away when I played thru both it and my Spider Valve at the same time :winkwink:

I was thinking the exact same thing. Petrucci at his best is just doing a note for note replication of Gilmour's solo which just serves to remind what a real talent like Gilmour sounds like as opposed to a technician like Petrucci.

Id put Brent Mason up against any of em. He plays clean no distortion. Many country guitarist blow away the "speed metal" crowd :2 cents:
