Thriller wasn't even a good song. The only thing that made it 'special' was that it took up waaay too much time on MTV when they actually played music videos.

People refer to Michael as a "musical genius" because that is what he did...make music.

I never saw any flyers or promotions for the "Michael Jackson Dance Show" or a album called "Moonwalking with Michael"

The man made music...no matter who else collaborated on a Michael Jackson song, its still a Michael Jackson SONG

Thus his genius is recognized in his trade, which is MUSIC

but what you arent thinking of is.... WHY his music is sooooo genius?

It wasnt because his songs had the best bass lines, beats, or production.

The genius is, that through his music Michael could bring together the WORLD

That is the Genius in his music

I hear what you are saying but you can't start a fire with out a match or someone to strike it. MJ being the match, Quincy or whoever else the person lighting the match, and the fire it creates is the goal. MJ was a powerful match and started a great fire, take MJ out of the equation and replace it with just any old match and you might not even get a spark.

Whatever he did or didn't do is not important but how his fans perceived him is and always will be. Anything other than that is merely chest beating and crying the world is unfair or I should get credit...

Wow... you must have got some information the rest of the world didn't. I saw no proof of it and apparently the courts didn't either. I think Jackson could have done it without Quincy but the same is not true in reverse.

Check MJ's demo of Billie Jean, apparently before Quincy even got to it, sounds super close to the final mix:

Think outside the box. Imagine Thriller sung by Lionel Ritchie or Sting. would never of worked. Quincey Jones might of written it, Michael Jackson delivered it. And that's what made it unique.

You would put your child through the ordeal of giving evidence in a court, exposed to the world and have to face the results or walk away with $12m?

I would protect my child and take the money to get her out of the environment that reminded her of the abuse.

Whether MJ did it or not is up fr debate, like did OJ do it?

I seriously doubt the police and AG would of pursued a case against another media star unless they were very confident about it.

Did you ever hear Michael Jackson take credit for work others had done? 95% of the public who listen to and buy music are ignorant, ignorant about EVERYTHING, not just music. So why stress out about it. 95% of those pathetic mourning fans you see hadn't thought about Michael Jackson in years.

Michael was an ENTERTAINER - arguably, the greatest entertainer ever to walk the planet. His music was far from the greatest music ever produced.

they are close as far as melody and obviously lyrics, but the instruments and mix are separated by leaps and bounds. the demo version sounds a lot more synthesized. quincy fattened it up a lot

but you are correct in that this argues more towards mike getting his credit as a musician and not just a dancer

Are you kidding me? I can certainly see your point but this was no joe schmo that paid them off. That WHOLE ordeal was a media circus that generated large groups of people like this dave90210 idiot that went ahead and decided he was guilty. That kid will always be stigmatized as the kid MJ molested or the kid whose dad tried to frame MJ and got rich.

He is marked for life. But if this had been joe schmo no one would even know who this kid was and you are right, he could be saved from this ordeal by a payout but the fact remains he will be haunted by this for the rest of his life. Reporters will buzz in on occasion like flies to a carcus, or mentally deranged people, or pilfers looking to write his story or his movie, etc.
