Given the state of the industry, could any of them do it again, or was it genius and timing playing perfectly together?

I don't think anyone will ever have the same success that some of you had. And that applies to any niche. Unless one of you genius can crack the Chinese nut somewhere down the line.

I think there's time and place for many different sites/programs and though I agree its not the time to launch a sologirl in this market, I can think of a few other concepts that could do very well...:thumbsup

If you had to choose, would you say that starting a single model site is a better gamble today than a typical general niche porn site? I would think that you'd have a better shot at making a run with a single model site if the girl was willing to put in the work... because that business concept can offer the consumer things that tubes can't... like companionship in the form of email/message board contact.

Jerking off to videos and pictures is all well and good, but if you have a girl that answers her emails, goes on live cam, posts on her forum, writes in a blog, really extends herself... I would think the odds are better at getting that initial sale and rebill.

MikeAI from AmateurIndex started the whole niche that is now called 'solo girl' - and I don't include the true amateur girls who do their own sites as part of that, they are 'amateurs'. Mike doesn't consider himself a genius so I won't say he is either. But anybody in solo girl niche should know that we all still use his blueprint. He was the first.


hmm - the SouthernCharms guy, i've heard he is like one of the richest guys ever in this business and still going. But his sites are true amateur - different ballgame.

Mayor could have had any type of site and rocked it. They were marketing genius'.

Absolutely the single girl site. But it would have to be a very special girl. That certain "it" factor and of course her interaction with the fans. I personally wouldn't touch a "mega site" that has it's content outsourced and no fan interaction. I see the sales (or lack thereof) that they make when I send them traffic. Why would anybody want to join those sites when you can get the full experience of them for free since their members areas are completely ripped in a thousand different places?

So yeah, solo girl without a doubt...or a very micro niche that had several girls that were loyal and exclusive to just that one site and worked on it together to interact with the members. But you'd still need ONE girl who had that undefineable "it"

And that "it" isn't a common commodity. It's rare and the girls that have "it" many times are unaware of it themselves and aren't actively out there pushing for a solo site. Hell, it took me 7 years to convince Claudia-Marie to do a site.

The Dancing Bear is proving everyone wrong with their site launch and conversions. People just need to stop producing the same exact paysite as everyone else and innovate.

Yep, William made millions with Southern Charms by the time he was 25 years old. Totally "square" and super nice person. He and his wife started it and ran the whole thing out of their house...probably still do. Used to be one of my best friends (he webmastered AL4A for us for about a year back in 1998) Haven't seen him since probably 2000.

He really had a great idea and it was just a monster.

I love threads where someone is either self promoting or labelled as genius. A good market person knows how to network well - is creative but also trusted by webmasters and reads/learns about the industry to notice any changes needed to bring in sales/traffic etc. - I would honestly say that no "one" person is a genius and if so would not be so arrogant as to call themselves that because they would have recognized that it wasn't their efforts alone that got them there

I always thought the proof of genius was the ability to do it again. Lightspeed had 2 girls go HUGE and one or two others that was really big. Better yet they were different. Not tons but still different. FTV had two huge hits. Not picking on Mayor's money as they have obviously done well.

JayMan/3xTom aren't bad either. Raven Riley and Liz Vicious for example.

I agree , and that's why I think us at Mayors weren't as much "solo-girl" successful as we were "program/traffic" successful because Mayors wasn't our 1st program to reach great success. Stiffycash was monster in its day compared to Mayors. :winkwink:

I think, at the time, the marketing of that site had more to do with it being "high definition" than the actual girl.
I remember the very large, high quality videos on the site... that was more alluring that Brooke Skye ever was.

I don't want to get too specific just because many of things we did still work today and many still haven't caught on, so I don't want to create more competition for myself.

However, I think its about leading the trends. Like in Stiffycash back in 2000 or so, offering a thing called free hosted galleries, which at the time no major program was offering, now try and find one that doesn't. Same thing with MayorsMoney, we added Flash videos around 3years ago when most webmasters didn't know what they were for because most MGPs wouldn't accept them but now everyone has tube videos.

Now in relation to sologirls, we did alot with geo-targeting and personalization but in a automated fashion because with 1000s of members there just wouldn't be enough hours in the day to say shoot them all a custom fansign when they join. So we built a fansign generator which both sent new members a custom sign with their name and also for webmasters to use to build them for their needs. Its also always about focusing on details like type of font the generator used, which we had made from the girls actual handwriting not some font that you can find anywhere on the net. Now this thread needs a pic, so Brooke made you a fansign... :winkwink:
