Sleazy there is no shame, you tired it didnt work. You move on,all that matters is you learned from it and grow from there.

Don't know you Sleazy, but you took a chance, took a risk. I respect that. Most people just sit by the shore and watch the water roll past. Fuck it. Keep taking chances and alongside the failures comes the rewards. All it takes is one risk paying off! :thumbsup

Hey, even the biggest and most successful companies of today have been through rough times, bankruptcies and restructuring. In business, every 6 months there will be a disaster. The important thing is you dealt with it, and now you have the opportunity to open a new chapter in your life. It took a lot of courage to come out with this and you get mad props from me for it. I am here and more than happy to do some biz with you and make some money together. You know where to find me ;)

Yep totally with you on this one. you can't fail if you don't try, but neither can you succeed, and sometimes these things need to happen so we can learn and grow from them and take that experience on to create successes.

On a lighter note, was Plaxico Burress in your club?

I have no idea who that is?

Now I understand where you disappeared.
Everything happens for a reason, and I am where I am today thanks to all the mistakes I've made and learned from.
Also, when forced to live with minimum resources, I found the only needs that matter in life, basic needs: eat, drink, piss, shit, and sleep.
Lots of love, stand for yourself. Who cares what everyone else thinks, I don't even care what I think. Life is :)

he has no real assets and works for cash jobs now - he blew himself appart with the club. I guess that's revenge in it's own sake LOL

Sleazy - I'm sure you don't care, and I know I don't. But even you of all people don't deserve to lose your empire. What you built online was admirable and I am sure you will rise up again.

I pretty much hate your "online persona" as you do mine. But from someone who has had nothing to another: Let me know if I can do anything.... "bro"

I'm sure you'd offer the same to me despite our differences, and as someone who is in a position to offer now - let me know if you need anything.

Thanks for you honesty and candor, Sleazy. It's all about the ups and downs of business. Your story illustrates that the big difference between the guys who make it and the guys who don't is the way they learn from setbacks. Setbacks teach lessons. They happen for a reason. You're surviving your setback and didn't let it change you for the worse. I draw inspiration from your experience.

Couldn't have said it better. Mad respect to Sleazy for taking that risk of starting a new business venture, especially to have it fail and rebound from it. Lifes all about learning from your mistakes and growing from it. Good luck w/ everything.

If misery loves company - here's mine in a nutshell:

Sunk about $1.75 million into a mainstream business trying to keep it going for many years, finally had to nuke it - took about 2 more years to get disentangled from all the employees, investors, and board. Learned a lot of hard lessons about business and am now 2+ years into a second (very profitable) venture. So - just keep on cranking on the things you know and love best, learn your lessons and you will prevail in time!

:thumbsup

That sucks man, but remember, the smartest never let a bankruptcy defeat them. In fact, many use it as a business tool. Even some of the original creditors that got burned come back again to invest in a later round and make way more money back than they ever lost.

If business wasn't a huge gamble, it wouldn't be so lucrative.

As someone with a real estate business on the mainstream side, I've seen A LOT of people lose EVERYTHING when the market crashed. It was a real wake up call for many. I also know people making a killing acting as vultures right now.

I hope the one lesson you learned is never own a club. If you want to own a liquor business, buy some hole in the wall bar in a small town that is already profitable and then leave it be.

For every successful club owner, I can point you to 3 that lost a ton of money and now have nothing to show for the effort. For as much as it costs to open a decent club ($2 to 7 million in my area), I've never understood why anybody would throw cash at it.

(That is unless they are getting their money through other means and need a convenient cash business to run some money through.)

you dont have to explain yourself to anyone here, its your business, if people want to poke, pry, and call you out they are obviously doing it because they dislike you or they think its cool.

That's the thing about GFY that is so fucking retarded. It's no ones business what anyone does. At least Sleazy has never ripped anyone off.

People should mind their own.

I get the feeling that he had to explain himself here or somebody else was going to do it for him and he wanted to make sure it first came out in his own words. Can't really expect people not to have an opinion when you post your personal issues.

He sure as hell dont have to defend going bankrupt, but if he wants to explain it, then its his choice. I think other people might learn a little from his mistakes.

But there is nothing shamefull about going bankrupt - it just one hell of a kick in the balls.

Going bankrupt helps you remember not to make the same mistakes again, when you start a new business.

yep, I could tell. I wouldnt say ripped off though, the price of laser lights are not cheap. And if you have 50 or more lights, that could eat up your 50k fast...reason I said that is because you mentioned the original 50k renovation aspect of your post. 50k quickly turns into 200k when dealing with a project like this.

I have friends in the bar business, and I think they only stay afloat down here because bars/clubs are 24 hours here, so there is 24/hour stream of drunks in new orleans. Not to mention Mardi gras, they make so much during mardi gras month it off sets all slow months. Clubs are ran slightly different, with Fri, Sat being the big days... unless you in cali where I know guys who have been very, very successful doing Thursday night clubs, but that is Los Angeles, and they are themed, like 80s night or goth night etc...

stephane76 07-29-2009 12:10 PM
