I believe the delicate term is "First Nations."
Any club will look lame with the lights on. I was quite surprised the first time I saw one of my favourite haunts with the lights on and all the sticky tables, etc etc. Not to mention the bartender wasn't nearly as hot as with the lights off... ;) Kudos to Scott for giving it a try in a terribly competitive and rough industry. |

The club looks fine aesthetically. It looks more like an issue with bringing in the right types of people. 90% of running a succesful club is being able to draw in the right crowds and have the right people doing it.

you're talking about Winnipeg - the murder capital of Canada. it's a rough town. I always ask John what do the young affluent 30 and 40 something year old people like lawyers, accountants, corporate types do there. they don't have much choice. |

Maybe not the hottest club in town but fuck, how many other GFY'ers own night clubs?

that you tried to bring in a native gang crowd when your previous experience was an internet and message board kingpin shows how extremely naive you were.
people must have been licking their chops when they saw such a fat and easy mark walk into their view. no hate. but just grab some street sense. |
at least he can say he owned a club once

Threads like this (and the original one it is based on) are interesting not because of the content of the original post but by the reactions of the subsequent posters.....haters, gloaters, people who think he deserved it becaue they don't like him for some other reason, sympathisers who can relate to the guy based on their own experiences, and people with a history with the guy and probably don't like him, but nevertheless still offer sympathy.
I personally don't know who this guy is, was, will be, and don't really care, but if even half of what he says is true, then yes he has made some bad judgements, (some of them forced on him due to cirumstances), but he has also had a lot of bad luck. Bad luck, that would have also most likely knocked back even the smartest assed knowalls here. I would wager that the harshest critics here have not experienced either business success or failure, because if they had, they would know how close the two often are, and would be more sympathetic. For me, a thread like this gives me a good indication of which people that I could do business with and people who I will not be doing business with. Anyway good luck sleazy. |

I sooo love native girls... only reason to ever go back to canada... "Aboriginal Strippers"
I would live on the reservation. Sexually at least. T |
most of the clubs I went to were just big empty rooms with a bar. Looks like a huge club. But I think Sleazy overreacted to the gun, if you're using metal detectors then your bouncers slacked off, just increase security, open up the 2nd floor and double the crowd.
BTW I'm looking for a camgirls.com partner if you have the traffic let me know sales AT camgirls DOT com |

club advice:
since the area you are in is not filled w/ beautiful sexy people or high rolling VIP's, you should have turned that into a gay friendly club. believe it or not, gay friendly clubs (where gays and gay activity is tolerated but straights still come to party) make alot of money. im not saying a hard core gay club with leather pants and no shirts, but where college kids and gay first timers come for the dance music and the bi curious get turned out. i know lots of straight people who own these types of clubs and make a killing |

Quite a few have gotten puffy chests over the years and acted like assholes, and I can't say whether or not Sleazy was one of them. So maybe karma was due... or maybe it was just bad luck and/or bad decisions. Either way, it's not a bad looking club for the location. I live in Raleigh, NC and we certainly don't have any "European" style clubs to compare what we do have to. If someone opened a club like this here and catered to the 21+ college crowd, they'd do well for at least a few months. :winkwink: |

I'm not a big fan of board personas and I disagree with Sleazy if he says he acts the same on GFY as he does in person. He can come ACROSS that way in person in a casual encounter (he did the first couple of times I met him), but if you actually spend some time with him, he's one of the most generous people in the industry. The last time I think I saw Scott was at the Vegas (I THINK) airport and he was with his brother. We had hung out a few times before and we were just shooting the shit and for absolutely no reason, he asked me if I'd like an upgrade to first class. After a show I was always exhausted and hate flying so don't do anything other than sleep on the plane, so I politely declined. There are a TON of other stories like that about Scott out there. Anyways, sorry to hear about your club Scott. I'd been wanting to get out there and pop in for a visit but frankly, rarely if ever drive in to Winnipeg. The mom-in-law is there so I tend to steer clear. :winkwink: Good to see you back even if the circumstances are less than ideal. |
