actually that was the clientelle from my ex partner in the first couple months. I changed the clientelle to what I'l describe as a high end aborigional hip hop crowd on fridays and we did events with different crowds every night sat

actually in the last few months I was operating blush was dead.

I had a much rougher looking crowd, natives look like rough people. but they outdrink anything. I'd make more with 1/3 the people with natives as blush did with that crowd

Quoted for truth. I wouldn't touch a night club business with a 10 foot pole. I have had some decent neighborhood bar proposals presented to me that I declined to get involved in. To much risk. I can't imagine dealing with a club.

that isn't a client, that's one of my security guards... he's 6'3 and in the biz for 20+ years. VERY scarry guy to people who were bad..... lol

Any club will look lame with the lights on. I was quite surprised the first time I saw one of my favourite haunts with the lights on and all the sticky tables, etc etc. Not to mention the bartender wasn't nearly as hot as with the lights off... ;)

Kudos to Scott for giving it a try in a terribly competitive and rough industry.

The club looks fine aesthetically. It looks more like an issue with bringing in the right types of people. 90% of running a succesful club is being able to draw in the right crowds and have the right people doing it.

you're talking about Winnipeg - the murder capital of Canada. it's a rough town. I always ask John what do the young affluent 30 and 40 something year old people like lawyers, accountants, corporate types do there. they don't have much choice.

Every single one of them, and it's the hottest club in the WORLD, VIP even wait in line for the VIPMITVIP (Very Important People, More Important Than VIP), to do their thing.

Threads like this (and the original one it is based on) are interesting not because of the content of the original post but by the reactions of the subsequent posters.....haters, gloaters, people who think he deserved it becaue they don't like him for some other reason, sympathisers who can relate to the guy based on their own experiences, and people with a history with the guy and probably don't like him, but nevertheless still offer sympathy.

I personally don't know who this guy is, was, will be, and don't really care, but if even half of what he says is true, then yes he has made some bad judgements, (some of them forced on him due to cirumstances), but he has also had a lot of bad luck. Bad luck, that would have also most likely knocked back even the smartest assed knowalls here.

I would wager that the harshest critics here have not experienced either business success or failure, because if they had, they would know how close the two often are, and would be more sympathetic.

For me, a thread like this gives me a good indication of which people that I could do business with and people who I will not be doing business with.
