well you can certainly tell the discussion in this thread is being conducted by mainly north americans...
The irony that it's on a porn forum is quite funny.... Discussing Tax can't be done without talking about your view on society and individuals with in it. Go read Thomas Hobbes. Do you want to help your fellow human being or shit on them? When you need help would you like someone to help you or would like to be left to starve and die? :2 cents: I. |
so there is a penalty for succeeding? 20% accross the board.

The issue those of us who are paying have with those of us who do not, is the fact that their is no pain for the underbelly to continue to vote for free everything. this is unsustainable. you should spend less time reading thomas hobbes and more time reading common sense.:thumbsup |

I voted zero - not because I'm rich...but I don't believe in taxing (penalizing) people with a percentage-based tax simply because they're more successful at earning more money.

Huh? Think about it. 20% of a $20,000 salary is $4,000. 20% of a $100,000 salary is $20,000. When you impose a 20% taxation "across the board" - you're penalizing success. |

Where do I get to find this book about common sense? I suspect Godwin's Law will be invoked soon |

Now take a single person no dependants. Since he qualifies for $5500 standard deduction and $3500 personal exemption the first $9000 if his income would be exempt from income taxes. So in order for him to be in the highest tax bracket he would actually have to make at least $367K assuming he takes no further deductions. So say he makes that. Ok so now even though he's in the "35%" tax bracket his actual income tax would be $104K which is 28% of his gross income of $367K. Of course is all his income comes from capital gains he only pays 20% even if he makes $100 million a year. I'm sure the guy who is makes $150K at an actual job appreciates some billionaire is paying a lower % in taxes than him. |

10% flat tax on income over $50,000 and no deductions.
Make $40,000 you pay $0 Make $75,000 you pay $2,500 Make $125,000 you pay $7,500 Make $1,000,000 you pay $95,000 This should also be the tax rate for corporations. Eliminate estate tax. Eliminate capital gains tax. |

Warren Buffet (a multi...multi billionaire) ...said that it was unfair that his personal secretary who he paid 90 plus thousand per year...has to pay more in income tax then he does. When President Bush cut taxes on the wealthy so that they would use the increased net to produce more jobs (the trickle down effect)...Warren Buffet said the tax cut put 300 million in his pocket and the 300 million would not create a single new job. There are many wealthy people that have stated that they would not mind paying more income taxes...but as long as the tax breaks for them are availalbe they of course will use it to their advantage.
Martha Stewart...just a week or so ago stated on the Cuvuto show that she for one does not mind at all paying taxes and would be willing to pay more in taxes. I have heard some wealthy stars say that they would not mind paying up to 50% in income taxes...but have said that they would like to keep at least $1.00 out of every $2.00 they earn. |

If these ass hat celebrities are saying they would not mind paying 50%+ taxes why are they not already DONATING 50% of their income to charities, hospitals, schools ect? If they DONATED WILLINGLY to these causes, the income tax could actually GO DOWN. :2 cents:
Talk is cheap. |

I am so fucking sick of states like California that punish the successful. 2007 was my best year and I paid more in taxes then some blue collar people make in a year. Now increasing my car tax, sales tax, income tax, corp tax and god knows what else in the future. Its know wonder why people would rather go offshore. No reason to stay in the US. I believe in taxes but not punitive taxes.
