i like the concept of it being a marketting ploy, and yet no one knows who they are or what they are selling.

well that worked.

very true

It's called PSD...Personal Security Detail..and I would bet it is just for show not real.

lol @ bodyguards

jay23 08-08-2009 04:18 PM

I keep seeing these guys again and again past few days and I think its the stupidest move who ever paying for it did. The guys with the sun glasses and black suite looked like idiots in the Miami weather. This should be a MBA case study on marketing gone wrong.

JustDaveXxx 08-08-2009 04:30 PM

Its pretty real if you are Brazzers. Or a company that owes a lot of people money.:2 cents:

Adam X 08-08-2009 07:36 PM

Ask them if they are into womens va-geenaz...

I think it would deter people talking to them and make people wonder why they need protection.

epitome 08-09-2009 03:18 AM

So something just dawned on me...anybody know if the "protectee" is even an industry guy?

Maybe it's just somebody that's very rich and powerful (in which it would then be needed) that wanted to go to a porn convention?

It'd be hilarious if it were someone like the CEO of Exxon.

Agent 488 08-09-2009 08:00 AM

since a tube site owner got served with papers there (check the gay boards) maybe more people will have bodyguards in the future ...

Sly 08-09-2009 10:56 AM

So there are multiple threads about this on multiple boards and nobody has thought of asking who these guys are yet?

And considering nobody knows who they are or what company they may be from... what exactly are they marketing? What marketing ploy could this possibly be?

JimmiDean 08-09-2009 02:56 PM

I saw these two guys sitting on two seperate couches in the lobby about ten feet apart trying to look important with the three guards infront of them.
looked about a stupid and could be.
my guess is......

1 Marketing ploy that may rate as the worst ever in the history of marketing.

2 Some non industry poeple showed up to meet chicks and failed.

3 it was the apple twins incognito.

D Ghost 08-09-2009 03:26 PM

I know who they are...

Yes they are industry people, no they aren't tube site owners...

LOLZ!!! :1orglaugh

Iron Fist 08-09-2009 03:55 PM

Would make me wonder what they are protecting... the fact that they are the gheyness?

Platinumpimp 08-09-2009 04:00 PM

Mib mib mib!!!

MediaGuy 08-09-2009 07:03 PM

I saw them in front of a cabana first time and just thought it was silly marketing stuff... having worn a suit in similar weather at past shows, I went up to them and said something to the effect that I sympathized cause I knew what they must be feeling right now.

No smiles.

Mine dropped.

The older security-guy: "GOT A PROBLEM?"

Uh... what?

But then someone with more brains than me kinda shuttled me aside and explained that they were real, and serious, and don't talk to them...

I don't know who/what they were securing but their presence was funny/surreal to say the least...

Heard later they were there for a program owner.... but I don't believe that.

At one point one of them posted himself outside the can behind the Splash Bar while another went in for a minute the emerged again... but they weren't surrounding anybody, and no one went into the can after that...

I just figured they were clearing the place for 2 Live Crew...

Dinkstuff, truly.

:D

D Ghost 08-09-2009 07:36 PM

they weren't there for 2 Live Crew... the guys they were working for are industry guys

So who the hell are they whats the big secret? Not that it really matters.

DatingGold 08-09-2009 08:38 PM

I know who it was for. A nice guy in my book.

Where they live it makes sense. At the Westin Diplomat not so much. I'd be more concerned if I need security i'd change my acquitances lol. However I think it was mostly for show which is fine. By day two the security guys were just waiting in the lobby. They must have been sweating balls in the heat that's for sure.

Bringing security to a club can be a good idea especially if you got cash, jewels or chicks.

tony286 08-09-2009 08:45 PM

hasnt anyone ever been killed or forcibly robbed at a show in the history of adult shows?

Meeper 08-09-2009 09:09 PM

Ya we saw them around as well and our first thought was IBill as well haha. Good meeting ya Forest!

The executive summary:

The guy served is the owner of MonsterCockTube.com/Antelope Media/Alphamale Cash.

He was outside of the U.S. (it says he's German...couldn't ascertain if that is where he lives and/or operates out of) and avoided being served on a copyright infringement suit. Titan says he was avoiding them.

He came to Internext and they took the opportunity to serve him on U.S. soil.

That is the gist of the story posted on the gay board by Titan.

More and more gay studios are taking on an in-house general counsel. I am not sure if Titan is one of them, but they've been extremely proactive on copyright infringement and other studios are redoubling their efforts.

I could totally see having protection if they are International. Especially if they are a big earner and live in a country notorious for kidnappings for ransom.

At a resort in South Florida, not so much, but maybe he didn't know. Or, maybe he has a great security team that insists on protecting him at all times; or at least until they can ascertain the threat level.

I see the thread but it does not say this was the same guy with the bodygaurds. Unless I am looking at the wrong board.

CIVMatt 08-10-2009 07:13 AM

We were wondering how those guys were, most the time they were just walking around by themselves, all I could think was "Enjoy the florida humidity asshat"

lazycash 08-10-2009 07:24 AM

LC is big pimpin now.

Dirty D 08-10-2009 08:20 AM

This has nothing to do with any gay program.

So far there are only three people in this thread that are even close :)

I saw them too. At first I was thinking about Ibill's guys as well :1orglaugh

IF it was a marketing thing, then THIS IS THE DUMBEST Plan I ever seen. You want to go to a show and be approachable and meet people, not keep them away... Anyway, we all know Multi-millionaires from this biz and they were in Shorts an Flip-Flops all week-end long serving beers to their clients/friends.

On the other hand IF it was true, and they are form the biz, WHO IN HELL think that he needs protection at a convention where you have almost one security guard for every 10 some people?

So either they're n00bs and don't really know what our community is about OR they made something really bad in the past, so they should have stayed home either way :2 cents:

gocubbiesjess 08-10-2009 09:53 AM

I remember seeing them a lot too, with their aviator sunglasses and dark suits. I thought they were just trying to look cool so I didn't care enough to ask them....I could use a bodyguard though...or I'd like one...lol

Varius 08-10-2009 10:00 AM

I work pretty cheap, pretty much just feed me and give me a place to stay and I'm good. :thumbsup I'm kidding but I probably would just for a change of scenery.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

As far as those guys go though I can understand the logic if they are from outside the US and have never been or only rarely been. Talking to people out of the country that have never been here I hear all the weirdest shit. They think people get shot everywhere all the time just for walking down the street, people are always getting robbed in every city big and small and that America is such a super dangerous place.

I've been to hands down the shittiest parts of Phoenix and I've only been shot at a handful of times for no reason.

C-Luv 08-10-2009 10:03 AM

No shit lots of my European friends think crime is a bigger problem in the USA than it is. They don't realize you usually have to go to the hood to see crime.

TheAmericanCannibal 08-10-2009 10:06 AM

Rumor has it, it was Ben from Holland's Bodyguards, Metro's muscle-
They were afraid JFK may be put a cap in Ben's ass...a LENSCAP

Yup. Some guy from some small ass country I can't even remember went off on how dangerous America is... I think they see rap and metal videos from over here and think that's how life is haha.

Mirage 08-10-2009 11:41 AM

I think one of them was actually the boss, biut nobody told them he has to actulally look different than the others to make sense.
Eastern europe small country...seen them there all over acting out.

The Principal live in outside of the USA. I never met the security guards, but saw the Principal on thursday getting badges. I hardly recognized him, he looks amazing. Anyways, considering his former partner has threatened my life overseas, I can see why the security.

How did everyone see these guys, and I had a meeting and we always kept missing each other? Damn it.

Whatever fucker, how did I miss your ass at this show? Looks like I'll be down your part of the world soon.

Rinaldo 08-10-2009 11:59 AM

I actually stood next to one of the guys while I was in the gift shop. He was buying gum. He was friendly enough to me, the suits stood just outside of the gift shop.
You see a lot of guys at the shows with years of beef and they shake hands. I've seen one fight at a show and he deserved it.
I think the security was unnecessary.
