i love hot sauce - when i order chicken from Popeye's i grab handfuls of their Lousianna hot sauce packets and just eat/lick them by themselves off my fingertip.

the insane suicide type hot sauces - i like them but they destroy your taste buds for hours, which sucks.

The entire house smells like hot sauce right now.

I had to run out for a few and when I opened the door the smell overcame me like a wave.

Nice, I grow my own organic habaneros and make my own hot sauce and salsas.

None of the store bought hot sauces can compare to good homemade stuff, nor is it as hot.

Nothing in a bottle compares to the fresh heat of a Habanero.

pic from yesterday, i blogged it this morning though...

I remember biting into my first habanero pepper. Talk about getting something "seared into memory"

Yeah I have made my own sauces in the past. I don't bother anymore. I could never make something better than a $5 bottle from the spice shop.

I think thats the case with everyones first time with a Habanero! Personally, I LOVE the taste of Habs, and the heat burns everytime! But man, that flavor cannot be found anywhere else, and I use Habs in every salsa that I make for myself.

However! brings me to todays entry, yesterday a family member told me had some peppers growing out in the country for me and told me I could have them since he didn't eat them nor really even know what type of peppers they were. he knew some were Jalapeno but long story short... he finally remembered his gloves and brought me a big bag of peppers yesterday!

I told him Id make a batch of salsa using only the peppers he provided me for the heat... which turned out to be, Green Cayennes and Jalapenos (both green and yellow)

the salsa turned out very, very good. Too hot for many, the fresh green cayennes have quite a bite to them, but just right when you like it hot but not Habanero type of hot...

heres what it looked like before we ate half the bowl LOL

Id never used green cayennes before, I ate one raw before making the salsa to measure out the heat for this batch...

mmmmm good!
