Had a Jeep Comanche with around 330k. Sold it to some Mexican's who were "importing liquor".

Agreed. I have never bought anything that was under 100,000 and probably never will. Even when I had money my lowest mileage vehicle was at maybe 104,000.. Of probably 20 vehicles I've owned 18 of them were Cadillacs and I drove them hard and drove the fuck out of them.

I use to always floor down the pedal in 1st on take off and jam down on the brakes to stop. I use to have to buy new (used) tires for each car at least once per month. I really use to punish my vehicles. I had ONE major failure ONE time - a transmission in a 4.9 cad - (the transmission they put with the 4.9 isn't wonderful.. pretty tough but not THAT tough)

They all served me well.. I always sold them for a profit (enough to at LEAST cover all of the gasoline I'd ever bought, the insurance costs and any repairs I did)

I've been left on the side of the road by ONE of them - my '79 cad after someone stole all of the gasoline without me noticing it.

Hell, to me, if it's reliable, the wheel turns with one finger, can be maintained inexpensively, has cold air conditioning, is comfortable for roadside blowjobs from lady friends and has a v-8 in it .... that is all I need .. I can buy Cadillacs I like for $2000-$5000

If I could have my dream cars... like say I won powerball.. I'd buy one of those Cadillac V cars, the 550hp one(find one for ten or fifteen grand).. maybe a used Bentley and Rolls(a little under 100 apiece).. but definitely would make sure I would be able to resell them for a profit later

I don't waste money on automobiles no matter how much money I have. I see it as a huge weakness in most guys, wasting a fortune on automobiles for status or attracting broads

V_RocKs 06-10-2011 02:02 PM

208,000 or so right now on my Jeep Cherokee.

scarlettcontent 06-10-2011 02:06 PM

got 950k on my old 71 beemer

My parents had a 1990 Camry that they bought new. My mom drove it for years and years, and handed it down to my brother who then drove it all over. When they got rid of it, it had 298,000 miles on it.

My own personal record was about 190,000.

CDSmith 06-10-2011 02:33 PM

Hell I don't know. I guess it would have to be the winter beater I bought for $300 bucks the year I bought a brand new Firebird. Parked the FB in the driveway under a tarp and drove that oil-leaking beater, a '69 Biscayne no less.

I think it had around just over 300,000 KM on it.

Jon Oso 06-10-2011 02:46 PM

Only bought a car with over 100k miles on it once. I had it for about 2 months, put 3,000 miles on it and got rid of it when both of the door handles ripped off while trying to open them (it was unlocked). I think the car had 142,000 on it.

Other cars, 36,000 miles was stolen, 15,000 miles sold at 19,000, 75,000 miles sold at 92,000, 19 miles sold at 19,000 (in a year), 52,000 sold at 114,000 (over 4 years, two motors, two transmissions) and 34,000 miles on the current car.

Elli 06-10-2011 02:50 PM

my 99 Acura EL has 230,000km on it, the 95 Integra GS-R has 226,000, and my 06 Jetta wagon is a sprightly young 95,000kms old. The worst off is the EL, which still gets 25mpg (automatic) but drips oil from her bottom end while parked. The Integra's motor was rebuilt last year.

edgeprod 06-10-2011 03:22 PM

120k on a Jeep Grand Cherokee ... solid as a rock, too. Aside from that, I drove my Viper up to 34k miles, which is probably equivalent to 200k on another car.

ottopottomouse 06-10-2011 03:31 PM

Only ever driven one car with over 100,000miles on it but it is 77 years old now.

Most i've ever owned was 65,000 and was right at the point where it was going to start eating money.

Just Alex 06-10-2011 10:50 PM

60K. I sell them after.

Captain Kawaii 06-10-2011 11:14 PM

165k on RAV4...Bought it at 3 miles from dealer. Best damn vehicle I've ever owned.

theking 06-11-2011 12:46 AM

266 thousand miles on a 1995 Buick...that ran perfectly when I sold it and did not require oil between oil changes at 3000 thousand miles. Never did anymore to it than change plugs a couple of times and brakes one time.

PiracyPitbull 06-11-2011 02:17 AM

Most impressive I"ve heard about to date is Irv Gordons volvo...he's closing in on 3 million miles now and its pretty much mint:

I can't post a link but googling "Irv Gordons Volvo" will get you there

Most I've ever had was 136k miles on a 96 Supra TT.

Coup 06-11-2011 04:51 AM

750,000 miles on an old kenworth cabover

I've flipped god knows how many cars with over 200k on the clock

I find that rather strange, i know for a fact that only a few years back, the world record was being disputed by two Beetle owners (both on around 1.5 million if memory serves me right). One a Brit and the other a yank, the Brit complained that the american spent all of his time just driving up and down motorways to get the milage up while the British bloke just used his car when he needed to. Either the Volvo did a million miles in just a few years or he is a newish discovery.
I admit i did lose track of this story a few years back.

I'm not sure if he's new or recently discovered. There's a ton of stories and features on his P1800 though and even though I cant link to them (due to GFY post count), the search engines comes up with a whole load from Autoblog website and others. There's a bunch of video clips too.

TubeKing 06-11-2011 01:11 PM

sell them all at 25k

I saw this post and was like wait! Then I got sad because I saw the date. :( rip.

In other news. My acura has 130k on it. it's rolling fine and looks great. Got it in 2004. I do want to get an mdx soon though. I need to go test drive and see if I actually like the way it drives. I've sat in it a bunch at the dealer. I've gotten the new tsx as a loner when I had my 120k or so check up and didn't like it as much as the one I have now.

The EL is for sale, as we replaced it with the Jetta. The GSR is a summer toy that's leaving the stable in August. :)

I got rear-ended in a rental HHR by an older MDX last year. It fared pretty well. The Acura's front bumper fell off and the HHR got a tiny dent/scuff in its bumper.

I drive Mercedes 300D's... The good ones from mid 80's. I have an 81, an 85 and a 87. Lowest milage on them is over 200k. For these cars it basically the break in period, and even after almost 30 years, they still run like a watch and get 33 mpg. Plus you almost never have to fix them and IF you do, parts are dirt cheap and plentiful. I can pour WVO, used motor oil, kerosene, old trans fluid into the tank and it they run just as well and that crap is free. Why they can't build a modern car like them I have no Idea.

adultchatpay 06-13-2011 09:24 AM

My Toyota 95 van is going 230k now. I seldom use it now, just when i pick up tables, carpets etc. Got some minor problems with it but it is still a reliable dude.
