Just so you know also, there is shooters who are fully qualified, with years of experience, who aren't working as much as a few years ago.

They don't need equipment, won't need to be babysat, and know what a client wants. Yet they are not working today, or a few days this week. Being educated you should certainly understand that just cause you think you are good at something, does not mean you can run a successful enterprise doing that. In fact its usually the opposite, very rarely can one truly put their skills to work to earn them an actual living.

The thing I dont understand is why you would argue incessantly with people who do this for a living, and know better then you (or myself) what you need to be able to produce and do to make it as a business, to make a profit.

The other was a completely different route that has far greater potential. The problem is dropping $3500 is a lot for anyone especially with no return on their investment until production is complete. For someone who wanted something in return immediately, that's where shooting X amount of scenes would come in.

If you have to start a little smaller good quality HD cameras can be found on ebay for peanuts, disk storage is cheap as is editing software and systems.

See, this would have been a perfectly acceptable response earlier in this thread that would not have gotten a rise out of me at all. I am very sincere in my efforts and have a few friends that have worked in adult for a while and have nothing but respect for the business.

I actually considered shooting with something like an HV40/HG20 HD cam but the smaller consumer units lack a focus ring or have very limited manual control. But I figure at worst, if I shot for example 10 scenes and transfer all rights and ownership that would be a fair enough deal.

Actually a few months ago, I lead a discussion at the local college's film class and the issue came up about shooting porn and how the production value leads many to believe that just anyone can shoot it. But like I told them the same thing, if you do not understand filming/photography basics, it doesn't matter what you shoot, it will still look like shit in the end. It just seems those that shoot shit in porn can make more money with lack of skills than those in mainstream who make the same mistakes where many would end up fired for not opening their aperture or leaving their cams on auto focus.
