There was never a lawsuit. The same guys responsible for the French site are the same guys who registered the domain and built the American version.

Why not rent the camera instead? Wouldn't that be much cheaper? You get to keep all of your content (Licensing is worth much more), you don't have to worry about potential costly legal issues later (who owns the content?), and you could always rent the hardware again for another shoot when you need to instead going through this whole thing again?
