I started breaking 100 consistently when I bought hybrids to replace my 3, 4, and 5 irons and stopped using my driver. A year or so later I'm down in the lower 80s.
As Jerryb said, he drives the ball 205 and shoots in the 70s. Someone your size and age probably hits your 4 iron 205.
On a 350 yard hole what good does it do you to hit a driver 275? It's easier if you hit it out 200 and then knock a 7 iron onto the green.

To be honest, I'm doing "good" with my current driver. I do hit 250yd average, about 60% of the shots in the fairway. But after trying a Ping G10, you never want to go back to your old driver! :thumbsup:thumbsup
But thanks for the tips. I agree, golf isn't just about hitting a ball, it's about strategy too.
