Just out of curiosity, do you believe switching from a PC to a Mac will prevent it from ever taking 15 minutes to load? Its YOUR fault the PC takes that long, not the hardware. You will have the same problem with a Mac, because you don't know how to maintain your system properly.

I have my macbook pro on dual boot as some stuff I just have to do in windows or prefer to do in windows. You get the best of both worlds that way. :2 cents:

That said...shame the audio drivers are so crap in windows on the macbook :(

Yep something is wrong.

My new Windows 7 setup boots in under a minute. Boot times on new PC's with new I7 motherboards are very good.

Just an opinion, but I feel it's the wrong time to buy a Mac with Windows 7 being released very soon. I would give it a try and then make up your mind.

I switched from pc to mac about 18 months ago after using pcs for 15 years. Am glad I did. Bit of a learning curve however worth the effort.

Enjoy yet another operating system you'll eventually get used to, have issues with, and because you bought into the Mac crowd, will mentally suppress. Because it seems Mac owners will have issues, much like Windows, Linux, Unix, or any other OS system. It's just that Mac owners never admit that shit.

anyone running statsremote on their mac? not in PC mode?

Serge Litehead 10-10-2009 04:58 AM

OFFtopic, don't know what you did with your PC, my 2.5yo 4Gig RAM HP still works like new... i keep installed soft to bare minimum of what i actually need and use, nothing useless is loading at startup and into taskbar, and regularly run CCleaner which basically removes all temp folders within the system and cleans registry from clutter that uninstallers forget to remove when uninstalling progies - CCleaner is the only registry tool I trust.. as others have tendencies to corrupt registries instead of optimizing them.
2.5years without even of reinstalling vista and it runs smooth without any problems.

personally i'd get i7 system before any mac but as a mobile light weight notebook might consider mac notebook in the future as I like to explore new things and see what macs are about))

good luck with your switching!

More than 100 people were using our Mac beta version in the last months.

Yesterday StatsRemote V4 was finally released :)

Its true. We just spend a lot less nerdy time tweaking bullshit that we dont care about like the rest of you, and more time being productive not only on the pc, but in our real lives.

It arrived this morning. I've forced myself to not play with it all day and get work done. I'm messing with it now and its going to be a learning curve for sure.

Question.. It looks like Entourage might be the best mail solution for me as I am already used to Outlook. Are there any reasons I shouldn't use it? I tried setting up apple mail and it seems like a pain compared to what I am used to.

Yeah, I have not had an issue with my mac for um... like 3 years and that was transferring the core OS from my old mac to my new one in 2006. :disgust

This says it all.. I have seen people on much older machines then you were running and it boots faster. You most likely had a bunch of unnecessary programs booting on start up. It will just be a matter of time before you make the same mistakes and your new machine is doing the same thing. :error

Joshua G 10-13-2009 12:23 AM

i was thinking maybe he needs to defrag. my pop was bitching about slow loading excel & he defragged, & it ran new again.

Sharky 10-13-2009 02:16 PM

i cleaned it up and got the load/reboot time to about 4 minutes with all necessary programs loading.

The Mac is pretty good so far. Other than adium sucking balls.
