some people get rich by being cheap

Thats par for the course man. Unless it's a custom detail job, a 2-3 dollar tip is normal. I give 4-5. I tip 20% and I never give a stripper more than a dollar to feel her tits. Duke |
In Europe, there is no tip or just a very small one like 1euro or 2euro max

If the value wants more money, he can get a better fucking job. I am not going to pay him extra just because he sucks at life. |

Aggravates the shit out of me when people thinks since I work 18 hours a day while they work 7 for some shitty ass company I should give them some of money that I worked so hard to earn? Sorry, go wash my car and bring me a sandwich. Losers :thumbsup |
some of y'all are confusing frugal with cheap.
frugal means NOT going out to eat, washing the car yourself, etc. cheap means, among other things, not tipping appropriately when you received services rendered. no one lost their millions tipping $5 instead of $2. |

if i have a nice dinner and the waiter has been working hard for 2-3 hours, ill give him a nice tip however, if i get a nice bottle of wine (lets say 200) and he leaves it there and thats it, ill tip him 20 no more, cause hell, why the hell should somebody make a huge tip for minimal work when i can put that $$ back in my pocket, fuck that 20% shit |

I do not care if that is considered cheap or not. I know in CA there get full minimum wage at least, plus they can not have their wages deducted like in some eastern states. Oh and if a place has a mandatory tip for parties of X. They do not get anything extra at all. Also if they try to add in alcohol I will pitch a fucking fit. |

This is the reason I don't lend money to friends. People think that just because you have money they're not obligated to return YOUR money. If your uncle wants to throw money at your cousin thats not of your concern, its his money. I'm sure that your mind made plenty of reasons to not pay him back, but its playing tricks on you. Man up and do the right thing or be a loser for the rest of your life. |

Not everyone deserves tips. I bartender in vancouver once got pissed off at me for tipping only $2 on a single beer. All he did was fucking turn around, bend down to the fridge, remove the bottlecap and hand me it. Some people...

I love how all the cheap fucks in this thread think that saving a few dollars by being stingy here and there will enable them to get/stay rich. Like if you gave the valet a $5 every time instead of a $1 you will wind up on food stamps. Or if you tip 20% instead of 12.95774% you will never be rich OH NOEZ!

either way, your lack of respect is revealing. many of you think being courteous and kind is like this scene in dumb&dumber. it's not. |
well there are differences when it comes to rich people and 'cheapness' - there are the group of eccentric rich people who didn't become rich to lavish themselves with material items and such, becoming rich was a by-product of their hard work or luck, they aren't comfortable living a rich lifestyle. They may live in a multi million dollar home and own some luxury cars but they will dress like they are on a pension and drive a 1990 Chrysler, that's what they're comfortable with. I have an uncle, er, had, he passed away about 5 years ago, he sold his biz for a couple million when he was about 60. Other than having a nice home which his wife convinced him they should buy he lived like he had no money, liked to golf, could have been a member of any country club he wanted to but would golf at the absolute worst public golf courses and would spend more time looking for 'free' lost golf balls than golfing. He also was a notorious re-gifter. To look at him, his clothing, you'd figure he was a retired man getting by on a small pension. We found it amusing because he wasn't being anything but himself, he was as cheap on himself as anybody else.
Then there's the other type - the rich who nickel and dime everybody else but themselves. They're assholes. I'm with Konrad on the tipping thing, I hate businesses that are based on paying employees minimum wage and passing the buck on to me to tip. The only one I'm comfortable with is restaurant wait staff. But the fucking pizza delivery guy and the hundred other jobs that we're supposed to be tipping - you make minimum wage because that's the kind of job you are qualified for, I don't care, you open beer bottles, you deserve minimum wage. |
