Not the military people I know. I have a few friends still in the military and they are not and were never destitute. That's not to say that everyone in the military is good with money or doesn't encounter unfortunate circumstances.

Let's not forget that the US military is completely volunteer too. Nobody who is there was required to enlist.

Why specificly target military families for help? Why not fast food cooks, janitors or gas station attendants? They are all in the same group. It's just that the whole warrior thing has a special place in society.
