This all reminds me of a fight that broke out at my buddies house back in high school. Big party, lots of people, multiple kegs etc.. All my good good friends happen to be in the garage with the kegs. I was on my way to the bathroom inside and noticed 5 guys getting into an argument with my buddy throwing the party. Next thing you know all 5 guys push him into the bedroom hallway and jump him.
Of course i feel obligated to jump in to help my friend. There was no thinking involved, just gut instinct. 5 against 1 was bullshit, especially since my friend was a nice guy non fighter type. I was able to position myself next to my buddy and leaving room for only 1-2 people to swing at us. Unfortunately I could see another friend try to join but ended up getting beat up by the 3 other thugs. Emergency Ambulance had to be called for him. Severe concussion. Somehow they got him down and were kicking him.
Me, I had my tooth chipped. Well technically it was chipped before and it was the "bonding" that broke off . Didn't hurt at all but it "looked" like I had my tooth knocked out.
Every girl that stuck around after the police left kept telling me how brave it was that I jumped it to help my friend. "Oh that tooth must hurt". I off course played it up and said it was painfull (when it wasn't). At the time I was only maybe 5"4 and 120 lbs wet.
And yes this helped me "get the girl" I liked at the time :-)
Moral of the story - Sometimes there is a "right time" to jump into fights and help out AND the outcome can get you laid :-) granted this was all stupid high school stuff.
