I'll go against the pack here and say that I don't like the site, and it doesn't make sense to me from a business perspective. 10 minute videos showing logging into the site? I'm sure the site will make some sales, but I don't see it growing into a traffic powerhouse like rabbits or TBP...

The site will have problems generating the valuable SE traffic which accounts for a big percentage of review site sales, and I think it will have trouble converting even the most enthusiastic porn buyers... The ones that do join will probably cancel after the first month and try another site from another company, and combined with training them to uncheck xsales they are generating much less revenue for each affiliate program.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong of course, but as a full time affiliate I shudder at how unscalable this site is and how high the overhead must be.

As was stated above - what about the content?

The first review mentioned was Rachel Aziani so I sat through it and it didn't tell me shit abotu the site other than the download speed, really.

What a surfer really needs to know about that site is a) Rachel is fucking hot. b) Rachel has amazing jugs that you get to see bouncing all over the place. c) Rachel runs the site herself and she's a doll. d) Rachel does some hardcore with her hubby and it's awesome. d) Rachel also does a lot of solo stuff and it's lava hot in the following ways: a, b, c, etc.

What you have here is a movie review site that doesn't tell you shit about the movie beyond its running time and the size of the theatre you can see it in.

Agree 100%, which is the biggest problem I have with review sites in general. We are selling an impulse buy entertainment product, who wants to watch a 10 minute video of a guy entering his credit card information and then checking his inbox for spam?

Nothing says it can't evolve into reviews of both.

It is my understanding that they do actually sign up for the site, with a fresh credit card each time. To me, that is the most impressive part.

To those that mock this format, I have a feeling you have tunnel vision and/or do not pay attention to what is going on around you. This format makes millions for mainstream companies.

I'm not mocking the format... just stating what I saw.

I understand it's early on, but when I watched one of the reviews, they "acted" like they completed the CC form, then the next shot they were in the members area. No thank you page, nothing about the email.

It was faked, they didn't really ever signup to the site.

Side note... I have several mainstream video reviews, on many video networks.. I love'em, they do great getting new leads and fast. But over my text reviews, the very few I have easily dwarf all the video reviews added together. ~ That's just me, it could be different for others.

Nice idea.

They need to be careful about what and how they blank personal details out on the join pages and receipt pages.

I now have partial personal details of one of the reviewers and 2 user : passes for sites :(

Yes sir... I will hit ya up about that actually.

Zorgman 12-10-2009 11:19 AM

Can someone explain to me why they would use production camera (many $1000's of dollar cameras) to show a 20 second clip that is only 720pixels wide?
The rest of the videos are video captures.

Bossman 12-10-2009 11:23 AM

Interesting - however I agree the videos are a bit too long :2 cents:

Regarding the SEs they should mashup text and video - maybe just focus on doing scores and quick statements in text, not many surfers read long text reviews anyway.

Transparency is not a bad thing, if you have nothing to hide :winkwink:

burntfilm 12-10-2009 11:30 AM

This is pretty sweet.
Just to give some feedback for the cause.

--- Starting the video I would like to see 30 seconds dedicated to the site's niche, - without editorializing.
So, as an example at the beginning of the video on say Isis Lee, I can learn that she is a hardcore model who's content spans solo masturbation, boy girl, public nudity or whatever it has. This would save me time if I were looking for a girl in a different niche.

Maybe this is something you put in text on the side?

Anyway, bang up job all the way guys, you're def. setting a pretty high bar.

ooof that's no good, no need to watch the vid if they're giving out passes in the review. nice catch.

V_RocKs 12-10-2009 11:49 AM

NOw how am I supposed to compete with this shit?

I just want to lay on the couch and do reviews here and there...

I'm liking the "pornbeer" review thing too.

Now I'm thinking you take pornbeer to the next level and set it up like "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and have a couple of "regular joes" going through the members area with just the silhouettes of the backs of their heads and the site up on the "big screen" in front of them.

Just show a little bit of action from a few scenes inside as well as the overview of the entire site. Give a real review of what matters to the surfer.

That could be funny and informational all at the same time.

"Mystery Sex Theater 3000" has a nice ring to it.

Thanks Robbie. Yes, that is where we plan to take porn beer. I want to bring in more of just my nonindustry mates to talk honestly - and hopefully amusingly - about some sites.

And yes, we plan to cut in content from the site, short little tasters. And as I said on the other thread, do interviews with the likes of your good lady wife.

But I don't want to hijack this thread, which is why I started my own. Which in no way will get to 3 pages unless I start goofing off about American Football.

:D

Hi Guys

First thanks to those who made positive comments.

I am one of the guys involved in this project, I have been sick with the flu so I wont be on allot but ill address a few key points, and hopefully once I get better ill go into more details about the project, the people behind it, and maybe go back and forth with a few here that like to mock everything 

This project is far from done and is in early testing stages.

Yes real credit cards have been used hence we have a legit spam report and we will also be posting a letter from a CPA signing off on that.

There will be an aff program, next AVN issue will have a full page ad about the site.

I have been in this industry a long time, I don’t design things so webmasters can talk about it, I design things that the surfer will enjoy, my tours are still lame and plain on all my sites and I still shoot updates after all these years, again I could care less about impressing webmasters or impressing myself, im not the one joining my own sites neither are you the webmaster.

We have footage of cancellations too, and when it goes live access is no longer valid. We try to uploaded after the membership is up, in addition we try to blur out as much as possible, do we make mistakes, yes.

We never joined a site using our own aff code, its clean joins.

We are human we make mistakes, we will fix it as soon as we are asked, im saying this a few times so people don’t panic, a big focus is being put on speedy corrections whatever they may be.

There will be a section with updated info for the user and we are more then capable of re-shooting when needed

Only a group of paysite owners who are in constant touch with their members would understand what this project is about. To be fair none of the sites we operate get reviewed, we tried it and as honest as it looked I can still see some saying it looked too positive, and it’s just a conflict of interest in a way.

Although you can blame the lack of signups in these days on tubes etc. the fact is this industry has fucked and re-fucked so many, and millions of people simply don’t join because of that, when you fuck a porn buyer you fuck everyone in this business. No doubt the huge amount of free porn don’t help either, but hey I cant help with that. In addition there is a whole market of people that are not expert surfers that would join porn sites if they would just know what the heck it involves, don’t assume everyone with a internet connection knows how to surf the net well, if they would several million computers wouldn’t get infected daily.

Years ago this site wasn’t needed, now it is, this project is really a small piece of a larger mainstream review project but we figured lets get adult out as it was the easiest to shoot.

And yes the consumer is doing more homework in these days especially when it comes to porn. The idea of doing video review is old, Cnet has been doing product reviews on video for a long time, but like I said this project hasn’t even started, and hopefully it will work out.

Like anything else that’s new, many will bash it and go into their theories on why it won’t work, and they will find spelling mistakes and all types of errors. Well guess what nothing is perfect from the start and like any new idea it will be tweaked and tested and given a good chance.

The surfer will decide what they prefer, what you as a webmaster will or wont do, does not matter (worth saying a few times).

I appreciate any feedback, the goal here is to help site owners with legit sites get sales, that’s it, quiet frankly money comes last, as bullshit as this sounds this is the truth. The main focus is bringing back the paying members; and to bring back some trust, that’s all. Before getting involved in this project a huge amount of research was done. The surfer will soon tell you who does and doesn’t understand them, but I don’t blame anyone for bashing a new concept, it’s the nature of the beast.

Its new and it will takes a big marketing effort including lots of late night TV spots and other major partnerships that are not the typical method of marketing to give this site the chance it deserves, for now its all about uploading tons of quality reviews and that’s the main focus now, in some cases redoing some that are not clear.

Enjoy and as soon as I get better ill spend more time here.

To many people now are sitting back drinking beer & making a joke of the adult business. :2 cents:

Its more like a PREVIEW SITE than a review site, of which a surfer can make their own mind up out of what he or she can see, rather than a view from someone with maybe different tastes. I think this could be a fast way to click through a few sites & interesting also.
Nice one Robbie, I have already emailed them to ask for a review on our sites! :winkwink:

I'm not knocking.... I like the idea, but I have to ask.

Are you going to be pointing out the ways websites monetize themselves? Like xsales, one clicks, upgrades, showing they have upsells, and in-house email marketing?

I'm not talking shady stuff, just normal marketing.

I know some people will support this, but in reality it slits the paysite owners throat telling the surfer about it.

Any affiliate program not doing it, isn't really that big... just cutting the bullshit, so wondering where you stand on such an important topic with review sites now?

TheDoc 12-10-2009 01:30 PM

P.S. Hope you're feeling better.

JustDaveXxx 12-10-2009 01:37 PM

The lines have been drawn and a new bar has been set for review sites.

What you see is 4% of the overall project. (which is growing leaps and bounds daily).

The goals are huge, the knowledge and experience is there, the people involved are committed and money is not an issue.:thumbsup

Good day gentleman, i got reviews to shoot and upload.lol

burntfilm 12-10-2009 02:08 PM

It's very ambitious, I hope the constructive feedback in this thread doesn't get overwhelmed by the nonsense. So far this site is pretty friggin' tight:thumbsup

It says right in their video, and I think they plan to point out all those things as it may not appear shady to you or others, but to a potential join that you plan on rebilling for months or even years, it's very important information.

And what does the size of the affiliate program have todo with anything?

If they only listed sites from large affiliate programs there would not be much variety to the site as there are really not that many. (as compared to the number of smaller ones)

Trixxxia 12-10-2009 03:11 PM

Not sure if they noticed this one but:
http://www.livereviews.com/1988/Adul...ales-Club.html
"30 Dollars a month and that rebills you every 30 months" - It's actually $29.95 for 30 days and rebills every 30 days

Commenting that they have xsales, I don't mind so much about. Pointing out, upgrades, one-clicks, etc.. which are 'confirm' orders that the person wants... That bothers me.

It's pretty clear that paysite owners don't like the fact that review sites are pointing out the HONEST ways they make money from the surfer.

Emailing members cancel offers, is not a scam and telling the surfer about it, is bullshit.

Then lets assume you did start getting spam, one of it's linked to one software backend or processor, now you just excluded all those paysites from getting sales and you just uncovered the REAL largest concern of surfers, privacy of information given to paysites - and told them about it - really f'in smart.

The Review site is injecting OPINION'S that they think the surfer doesn't like to be up-sold, even though they clearly take them and when you're doing it honestly, the buyers do not complain - they ACTUALLY THANK YOU!

Anyway, actual market research shows people LIKE to be up-sold and get other related products recommend to them.

This isn't to say I don't think the idea is good.... but pointing out some of the stuff they're is not what actually concerns the surfer but it does effect our sales.

Trixxxia 12-10-2009 03:23 PM

I like the idea - I think it's mainstream enough to appeal to really 'new' mainstream surfer. The porn addict who is always in a hurry may not like it at first but probably will after he's had to get his CC re-issued a few times.

Good luck with the project, to me it seems like it will reach a market that has been interested in joining, but too afraid to join. All the better in this day and age.

I think it's a cool concept and looks well done. My only gripe would be the length of the reviews. I just don't see myself sitting through a 10 minute review on a porn site. If you're deciding between 3 sites in a niche, do you really want to spend the next half hour listening to a guy talk about the sites? I'm sure there are some people that do and it will cater to them, but I'd like a little more fast paced review.

What I think happens is someone will watch 1 review 10 min video, see how thorough they are and then just take their word for it and look the content, security and billing tabs for the other sites and not keep watching videos.

Now one way this site could be a slam dunk is if people who are about to join a membership site go to livereview to check it out before they buy. For example, I am about to signup to ClaudiaMarie, i think its a nice site but before i signup to anything i go check it out at LiveReview first. So in this case I am not going there to search a lot of reviews to find a good site, I am using them as check to make sure a site I am about to signup to is legit or a scam. In this case, the sale Robbie was about to make 100% of he would then have to split with the review site. Would be great for the review site if everyone used them that way, but I know some affiliate programs that would be pissed about people taking "their traffic". :1orglaugh since the person was about to signup and found the site on their own.
