What I don't get is why would hype it up so much before even testing and tweaking it? Your webmaster story is essentially you had it all, then lost it all, but now you're betting it all again, leveraging almost everything you have (reputation, money?) on something you haven't even tested? Seems pretty reckless to me, and who wants to promote a reckless person's program this day and age?

I like the unique out-of-box thinking, and would consider promoting it because it looks to me like it has potential and I would learn something, but you're the owner, and you're a reckless asshole, and I wouldn't want to risk my time/marketing/techniques in the hands of someone I don't feel I can trust because of how they conduct themselves on a public board.

reality is - there is no way i could have quietly tested this with how people follow me so I figgured I might as well come out with it from day 1. YOU might have been able to get away with that - almost impossible for me with the stalkers I have.

I know some people on the boards act one way, and offline they're a totally different person. Maybe that's you. But if someone's a jerk online, they're most likely a jerk in person, or they're shy about being a jerk in person and act all buddy buddy. Either way, you question the character of that person.

some more advice... next time you have a new project you are working on:

Come to people like me and ask me for advice opposed to those other 20 or so people that posted in your sneak peak threads. You might not like me, nor do I have all the answers but I do know a few things and I will be honest with you. Opposed to just telling you " wow that is unique you will do well with it". 2 or 3 people with honest, legit feed back prior to going public is worth more than 50 " wow i saw it and it was great" posts. I'm guessing that you probaby asked them to post something about it, and some of these people you have done interviews for, had drinks with etc... ofcourse they going to tell you they think it is good. Most either really don't care, don't have a backbone and don't want to hurt your feelings, or really don't know enough to help provide you with good feed back (or all of the above).

With good feedback from a handfull of people who actually will help you + your own traffic is all you need to beta test something before putting an unfinished product live, and for the world to scrutinize, including potential affiliates.

Life is a learning process, now you know what to do next time.

Also if you don't hype something then your stalkers wont be hunting around trying to find it. Wait till you are out of beta to hype and people wont know about it before hand.

the reason I show it for free is cause most everyone I talk to says the site grows on you. The usual response is ugggg, then hummm, then wow - and he time frame to go though this is different for everyone.. some a few seconds, some minutes, some hours or days. They tell me there's good information in it and they like the concept. I'm hoping people see the yessignals - go into their real life, and experience them. then come back. Keeping them coming back requires not only goo info but porn - so i'm going to be doing daily updates on the porn as well as regularly adding new info and stuff. I'm targeting TGP MGP and tube so if people see the stuff on their favortite free site and have experenced it before they will come back and eventually sign up. It's a soft sell. The main market I see today is tube - and they give the movies away for free. To conform I wanted something that would work with them and not get brushed off. I see the porn as a secondary sale - as such i put full movies up. Not sure if I'll continue with that idea, but I want to run with it for a bit on testing and see what happens.
