I am old, old school porn. I started in New Jersey in 1991, the VHS days, right out of college working for what is now the biggest off-line porn distributorship in the country. In 1996 I started my first company, Internet Unlimited ... selling adult websites ... which were video conference sites offering downloadable software surfers could use and talk to "cam models' point to point on 14.4 modems. The company i got the software from originally was Virtual Dreams ... then ITN which later became iGallery. I was selling the websites for $3500-$7500 each (getting them built for $350) - receiving $2 per minute and paying $1 per minute to the site owners.

In 1998 I bought pstars.com for $1200 ... just found it using the wayback machine http://web.archive.org/web/199812031...om/index2.html I was only getting about 3500 visitors per day and making 3500-5K+ per month easy. LOL

Plus you have "within you" your site. It is not a script you are beholding to.

But for free sites (getting bookmarkers aside) a lot of the problem isn't the links, or even graphics in old sites. It is they are designed in 600x800 at best and at this point they are of course full of dead links.

It isn't the site, the links or the images but what your trying to sell.

Problem with old sites (now junked) at wayback is they were selling obsolete junk or they had too much content. :) The sponsors stagnated not the campy site.

At least that is my theory.

I ran paysites before that, and it was a mixmash of leased feeds , , shitty customer service, and a lot of chargebacks.
After recieving that first big check, it was like "fuck running paysites" EVERYTHING TO SPONSORS" and focus on traffic and traffic and only.
Many people became rich from running paysites, I had lots of members but shitty overall service. Getting a $15k check straightout was the best thing , it changed my mindset into, do what you do best. Get traffic. Don't follow what other people do.

I started my first affiliate site in 2000 with webcams from IFriends. I remember choosing my keywords carefully and all of the other optimization techniques of the time and got first page listings on Yahoo and some of the other search engines. It was so easy back then.

Of course whenever you did a search for anything on Yahoo and the others at that time it always came up porn. I guess that paved the way for Google to come in and give people the results that they were looking for.

A friend at work showed my this "internet thing" back in 1999 and surfed on to Green Guys Link-o-rama. After that I was hooked. Can´t believe that site is still around. Exact same design too :helpme
