A-HA and Talk Talk had a good bunch of hits. Maybe not in US since I don't live there, but they were huge around the world, especially A-HA

And not only wouldn't I have any idea what the Golden Girls theme was - I don't think that could count as a song :1orglaugh

Interesting about that one. That *was* the only major hit for White Plains. But White Plains didn't have much claim to being a hit band; it was really a backing band for Tony Burrows, a very talented studio musician - who had similar hits under different names during the same era: Edison Lighthouse (Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes), The Pipkins (Gimme Dat Ding), The Brotherhood of Man (United We Stand), First Class (Beach Baby). So White Plains WAS a one hit wonder - but Tony Burrows was one of the biggest pop stars of the era who no one ever knew.

Well, a notable instrumental, but there were lots of others that preceeded it that were terrific...check out the Ventures from the 60s :thumbsup

Actually, Paper Lace WROTE "Billy, Don't Be a Hero" - and they did record it - but the group that had a big hit with it was Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods.
