The Assassination of Jesse James is a modern western that I think was very well done.

I got my daughters name from Pale Rider
But I do have a favorite, John Wayne in the Shootist, it was John Waynes final movie and the story was pretty cool

For me it's Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957), hands down. You can't go wrong with Kirk Douglas as Doc Holiday and Bert Lancaster as Wyatt Earp.
