A pay site is hard to get ranked #1 in SE for "sex" and "porn" other good keywords, but as you can enjoy and maybe see a tube site can do that:).

Anyone ever think that their business plan could be switching to legal tube model?

Think about it. They grow into one of the top 50 sites in the whole wide world world by using ripped off content. Slowly switch to legal clips and you're still going to retain that traffic for a VERY long time.

If that is what they are doing, it's actually genius. The programs that jump on this will be getting access to the largest single porn traffic source in the world.

It sucks, it's wrong, but it's also reality.

I could be 100% wrong. It sounds feasible though, especially with what is going on at Tube8...and the skinning of GFY.

Sounds like they are slowly trying to go legit and get in programs good graces.

I think its a great opportunity for video producers

3 reasons:

1.comfort, no tube site in the world offers that, all suck when it comes to enjoying movies and the advertising is just annoying
2.lazyness, many surfers are lazy and rather pay 29.95 per month than look for videos on tube sites
3.impulse buy, when I get the surfer first, he will pay, doesn't matter if there are 10000 minutes videos on tubes, I will make him so horny, he will pay, no matter what the price is

And you don't mention picture paysites...how exactly are the affected by tubes? Also talking about quality...the biggest tubes have horrible video quality, just horrible, its good enough for a preview, but that can't be compared with paysite quality. Again, I'm not talking about 95% of paysites with horrible quality.

I must agree with you about quality of videos from tube sites. But not all are top tube sites what get huge google traffic. At this time are up 10 tube porn sites what already made a lot of cash for owners!
The rest walk around and wait for their lucky day when will go on the top 10 . No money, no traffic!

The video quality is horrible, beneath each video there is insane amount of advertising and you can't download the videos. Now please tell me whats so great about that.

they have almost no ads, besides some brazzers in-house stuff. their up-sell money is nothing compared to their spendings.

potentially they can make tons of money with huge impressions numbers, but actually they aren't making any money.

i'm not a huge tube biz expert, but it's not a rocket science to check those tubes for any 3rd parties ads. and there's no such thing

lol most ads on there are 3rd party ads...and you can easily spend $5k per day there, if you keep your ad running the whole day...and many people do...so you can easily calculate how much they do. It may be even as high as before mentioned.

its quite simple... when you rank number 1 for "porn" and "sex" and have several sites in the top 10 for businesses most high traffic phrases... after a few years of working aggressively to get there... you end up with 10-20 million uniques a day - at which point, you then get to start making the rules as you see fit.

Solution?

1) push them out of the top 10 results for "sex" and "porn"
2) shut the fuck up and work with them
3) be mediocre or less

I love all the fucking morons in this biz that pretend their going to take a moral stand. Which is really just a more dignified way of saying "I FAIL"

If there is one lesson i've learned in this biz, its that the less aggressive you are, the less rutheless you are and the less willing you are to push the limits... the greater the disadvantage you will always be in.

Thats the trouble with this biz, if everybody stood together and told them to fuck off than they'd go back to stealing content and eventually someone would find a way to take them down legally but no, there will always be people who will say "fuck it, who cares. i want some of that traffic".
