Consecutive starts streak

Since first being named the starter of the Green Bay Packers before playing the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 27, 1992, Brett Favre has never missed a game.[119] He is currently in first place for the most consecutive starts by a quarterback in the NFL and one of only five quarterbacks to have started over 100 consecutive games in NFL history. Since the beginning of Favre's consecutive start streak, 212 other quarterbacks have started in the NFL,[121][122] 12 of them being back-ups to Favre at one point.[119] Among his former backups are: Don Majkowski, Ty Detmer, Kurt Warner, Mark Brunell, Steve Bono, Doug Pederson, Matt Hasselbeck, Danny Wuerffel, Aaron Brooks, J.T. O'Sullivan, and current Packers starter Aaron Rodgers. Two veteran backups to Favre never started another NFL game: Jim McMahon, and T.J. Rubley. The consecutive starts streak is widely considered one of the most notable streaks in sports, so much so that the Pro Football Hall of Fame has as an exhibit displaying the jersey Favre wore during his record breaking 117th consecutive start as a quarterback, and a section of their website devoted to what the Hall of Fame calls an "Iron Man".[123]

In 2009, Favre surpassed Jim Marshall for starts at any position with his record-breaking 271st start as a quarterback as the Vikings played the Lions.[124][125][126]

We shouldn't have won that game. If the Vikes would have taken better care of the ball they would have won no doubt as they dominated all the other stats except for turnovers and points.

You live and die by the arm of Brett Farve.

Don't know if anyone else noticed but the refs made a BUNCH of bullshit calls against the Saints. Can't wait to go watch the game on TV to see if it looked as bad there as it did from the stands.

You forgot 1 stat: 3

3 times Farve has ended (and lost) a playoff game by throwing an INT. Last night was the 3rd time that has happened in his career.

Just wanted to make sure you didn't leave that one out.

that's not an official "statistic" but i am aware. he holds the record for most interceptions as well, it's in there, so don't forget that one yourself.

regardless, favre is a football legend who holds every significant qb record in the nfl.

idiot? hardly.

You fucking turd, did you even watch the game? So many poor calls the last few minutes, I don't even know where to begin.

First down via forward progress on a bobbled ball? uhhh
PI on an OBVIOUS uncatchable ball. I don't exactly remember how bad it was, but didn't it damn near sail out of bounds?!?! Unreal call.
The 4th down conversion that when watching the replay, no way in hell made it across the line after hitting (Greenways?) helmet.
The "Brady rule" hit AND late hit on Favre. I don't like the rule as much as the next guy, but if its going to be a rule then call it.

Yeah, there may have been a few so-so calls that went the Vikings way earlier, but no way even close to game changing as others.

Now I am not pointing blame on the loss because of the refs, we quite obviously blew that game ourselves with an embarrassing amount of elementary turnovers. Just had to reply after reading joshgirls retarded statement. Next time make sure your TV is turned on before you comment.

The vikings had WAY more BS calls go thier way. That one time Farve was almost sacked and tackled and they called a personal foul for what? If you talk bad about Farve they would threw a flag for a personal foul. Another time Farve threw the ball at the feet of a line men with no receiver around, looked like it may have hit the linemen. No illegal touching, no intentional grounding called. We might have got the benefit of the doubt the last couple plays but the entire game they were calling BS penalties against the Saints or doing no calls against the Vikings.

That pass was his fault, and could have been avoided totally, but what cost them the game was that too many men in the huddle penalty that put them out of fg range just before that...

Wouldn't say it cost them the game, a 50 yard FG is not a chip shot especially the way the FG kickers have been doing this year especially in the playoffs.

If not for that penalty, they would have ran the ball on 3rd down, likely got a yard or so, ran the clock down to 5 seconds and called their final time out and tried a 50 yarder.

The penalty took away their chance for a FG by running the ball on 3rd down. I don't think it matter that Farve threw the INT or if it would have been incomplete. Actually if it would have been incomplete there would have been about 14 seconds on the clock instead of 7. They would have been faced with a 4th and 15 from their own 38 yard line. I don't think they would have tried 55 yarder, you miss that you give the Saints the ball back at almost mid field with little time left. But who knows.....

12th man in the huddle lost it for them.

yeah but even a 50 yard attempt at the end is still a chance at the win, they didn't even get that chance because of that dumb week 1 caliber mistake of too many men in the huddle.

It's not a tragedy though, NO is just as deserving to get to the bowl this year really anyway.

mvee 01-25-2010 12:42 PM

They would have never got their if it wasn't for Farve. I am not a fan but he played a hell of a game. tough to go out like that. Interesting fact that his last pass with his other 2 previous teams, GB and NYJ where also INTs.

cosis 01-25-2010 01:43 PM

one of the best kicks i have ever seen.

yeah it was a 40 yarder and it was as high as the tops of the uprights when it went through. I think he would have made it from 60 if he had kicked it the same way.

The Saints kicking team didn't get the credit it deserved. The punts were deep and high and most of the kick offs were touch backs.... that plays a huge part of the game espcially with field position.
